Android: Playlist always starts at beginning after closing app

Does anyone know if it's possible to get the app to continue to play from the same spot in a playlist after closing and relaunching the app on Android? If I close the app completely, when I start it again it always starts at the beginning of the playlist instead of on the song I was previously listening to. Meanwhile if I use the website on my desktop it will continue from the same spot in the same song. I don't need it to "sync" between the desktop / website and the app but not continuing where I left off in the app is pretty annoying.
