Apple / KENWOOD Playback freezes after stopping / restarting vehicle

Platform Apple iPhone 12 / KENWOOD deck using CarPlay. This a a reoccurring issue. The channel selected and playing freezes after turning vehicle off and on then restarting. Pause symbol is displayed indicating it’s in play mode with time count showing but no playback is occurring. Also channel screen shows sound wave symbol indicating channel is active and playing not after selecting channel. If I exit channel select another channel, which plays and go back to original channel a new selection starts playing and channel is active again. Has anyone else had this behavior?
