is there a fix?

Hi @cgunn

Does this only occur when connected to your vehicle? Or when connected to other devices such as a bluetooth speaker?

When in your car, do you connect to Android Auto?

Does the volume decrease depending on the song? For example, a song comes on that plays lower, and then the next song the volume increases or returns to normal?

Thanks for the help!

@cgunn Does it appear to happen depending on the song?

Something to keep in mind is that we don't alter music equalization on Pandora from how it appears on the original releases, so some songs may sound louder, while others may sound lower.

If you feel like this isn't what is happening, please provide the following info so I can pass this along to our engineering team for further review.

2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe

Galaxy s22 ultra

Android 14

One UI 6.0

Pandora 2405.1

I'm having this issue as well. The volume....goes flat...for lack of a better term. I have it narrowed down to what is exactly causing the issue, at least in my case. I do not have a fix for it. It happens when plugged in via usb-c or on bluetooth, it doesn't matter.

As soon as I get in the vehicle and start it (or put in accessory mode) my phone will connect to Bluetooth. As long as I play the media through the media player (fm, am, bluetooth, etc) and just leave it alone (leave screen off) it works as it should. As soon as the screen comes on, the volume is throttled. Everytime. So text messages, phone calls, emails, or any other thing that may "wake" your phone up, volume is throttled. Only way to get it back that I've found is to turn off the vehicle, open and close the door and then restart, all while keeping your phone screen off. This is super weird, but it is repeatable 100% of the time.

Now, let's say you've done the above. Phone screen is off, you've automatically connected to your Bluetooth media and pandora starts playing (all the steps from above are in play). The volume is where it should be at this point, as you know if you open your phone screen (wake it) it will kill the volume. Now, with the volume where it should be, and the phone still "asleep", if you go to android auto from the media player (selecting it on the screen) the same thing happens (throttled volume), the exact same way and exact same level. 100% percent of the time.

There are way to many things in this chain that can cause the audio volume to struggle significantly. Basically anything that will wake your phone up. When this happens, it just kills the subwoofer, like it's not even there. Functioning properly, level 19 volume in my vehicle will give you a good rattle. When the audio gets throttled, I have to turn it up to 35 to get the same level of "loud" but the sound just isn't there and the bass is non existent, comparatively.

I have tried all the fixes. The data and cache wipes, the volume adjustments in system settings, the turning off of notifications, etc. Nothing has addressed these 100% repeatable issues with the volume.

Please get this figured out with Android auto. It would seem to be something between you two. I have not had this issue with any thing else.

Any updates from your engineering team since this was last posted back in May? Looks like someone else has just recently had the pleasure of dealing with this as well in their ZR2 Silverado. I'd say as detailed of a description as I gave, when someone else says they are facing the same issue, it's probably the exact same issue. I love Pandora. I have been introduced to so much great music I would have never known about without you, and have been with you all since day one, before there was even an app. It has been with me for many of life's adventures, ups and downs, over the past 18-19 years (ish).

Rocking out to music in our vehicles is loved by all of us here, but it's just not an enjoyable experience when half of that sound gets stepped on because of whatever is happening. Please, help us figure out what the issue is with this volume thing so that we all can enjoy Pandora to the fullest.
