AAOS: Waiting for Connection Error Message

I have the Pandora app on my iPhone and managed to add it in my new car, but it doesn't always load. I usually get a message that says, "You are offline". Lately, I can get the screen to show my Pandora music options/favorites but, when I press any of one of them, nothing happens. I also noticed a few weeks ago when it was working, it was actually doing so without having my iPhone with me. Is that possible?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to community!

Sorry to hear you're having trouble in your Rogue. Can you tell me more about your set up in the car?

How are you connecting to Pandora?

Are you connecting with your phone through USB or Bluetooth?

If yes, please confirm the make and model.

What is your OS version and Pandora version?

Do you connect to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or AAOS?

If you're connected through AAOS, please confirm your AAOS version.

I guess my response did not go through, so I am trying via a different method.

I was connecting to Pandora through my iPhone and Bluetooth which still works. However, I managed to add the Pandora app to my car infotainment system, and it was working fine by simply pressing the app icon on the screen. Now it says either "You're offline" or "waiting for connection", but it doesn't always connect even after waiting for a good amount of time..

My car is a 2026 Nissan Rogue Platinum trim. The Pandora version in the car is 2602.1.1 and the version on my iPhone is 2606.3. Not sure if that is the issue how I'm connecting. I assume it's through Apple CarPlay.

Regards,

Vinny

Hi @vinnyd51

Thanks for following-up!

Based on your description, it sounds like you might be using Pandora directly through your vehicle’s Android Automotive OS (AAOS) infotainment system. With AAOS, Pandora is installed directly on your Nissan display and uses your a built-in connectivity instead of your phone to stream music.

While I'm fairly certain this is your set-up, I'd like to confirm this is what you're using. Would you mind sharing a picture of what you're seeing when you open Pandora on your car's screen? You can attach images directly to this thread. This best done using a web browser on a computer versus your phone.

In the meantime, while parked, let's try some troubleshooting, like clearing the app's saved data and reinstalling Pandora through your vehicle's system:

Open Settings on your vehicle's center display.

Navigate to Apps (or Apps & Notifications / App Management).

Select Pandora to open its App Info page.

Tap Storage & Cache, then select Clear Storage / Clear Data and Clear Cache.

Go back to the Pandora details screen and tap Uninstall.

Once removed, open the Google Play Store directly on your car screen, search for Pandora, and reinstall it.

Re-launch the app and log back into your account.

Let me know how it goes!

Here are 2 photos of what I can see when opening the Pandora app. I can toggle between the two screens by hitting the "arrow" at the top left of the screen. Before I followed your very accurate steps to clear and uninstall, I thought I would first try to find the Pandora app in the Google Play Store. I scrolled through what seemed to be 100's of apps and didn't see Pandora. Is it definitely there somewhere?

Thanks for the pictures, @vinnyd51!

Based on what I'm seeing, it does appear you're using the Pandora app through your vehicle's Android Automotive OS.

While I'm not entirely certain how Nissan's app store is configured, some manufacturers only display apps that are available to install, rather than apps that are already installed. Which may explain why you're not seeing Pandora in the list of available apps.

It looks like your stations and account information are loading correctly, so it appears the app is able to communicate with Pandora. The "Waiting for connection" message on the Now Playing screen suggests the playback session itself may not be initializing correctly.

I still recommend continuing with the troubleshooting steps I shared above. If you're not comfortable uninstalling the app just yet, I'd suggest starting by clearing the Pandora app's data and cache. Please note that this may sign you out of Pandora, so you'll need to log back in afterward.

If the issue continues after clearing the app data and cache, I strongly recommend uninstalling and reinstalling Pandora. This will establish a fresh, new connection between the app and Pandora's services.

I'd also recommend trying another music streaming app on your vehicle, if one is available. This would help to rule out other possible network issues.

Thanks!

I did follow all of your troubleshooting steps including uninstalling and reinstalling the Pandora app. It worked great. Then, the next day, I got in my car, and it was back to "waiting for connection" but never connected. After that, I started getting a message that says, "Pandora is not working right now". Every once in a while, I get in my car, tap the Pandora icon and it will connect. All of these things happen without even using my phone. I can still connect seamlessly through Bluetooth but would much rather just use Pandora through my car's system. Obviously, this has become very frustrating. If you have any other suggestions, I would appreciate them.

Question, do you have the option to update Pandora within your car? I ask because the most up-to-date version of Pandora on AAOS is 2607.3.

Here are some steps that may help

I followed the steps above and found all apps are on "auto update from any network". That option is checked, and the only two other options are from "some networks" or manually. Unfortunately, when I tried checking manually, it doesn't tell me what to do from there. As it turns out, I do have the 2607.3 version of Pandora. Maybe it updated automatically very recently, but Pandora is still not working all the time.

I have the same behavior with my 2026 GMC Acadia AT4. I've found that while on the vehicle 5G connection the Pandora app always displays "Waiting for connection" however other apps such as YouTube Music do work. And if I connect the vehicle infotainment system to my home Wi-Fi network then the Pandora app does load and play music. I've also tried force stopping the Pandora app and clearing the cache and data as well as uninstalling and reinstalling it. The currently installed app version is 2607.3. Thank you.

Thank you for your input. I have tried clearing cache/data, but I have not tried force stopping Pandora. I will try that as well. How do you connect your infotainment system to your home Wi-Fi?

I guess my response did not go through.
Regards,Vinny
