Thanks for your email. Going back to my dashboard display in the vehicle,
there is no CarPlay icon. Whether it was not an included feature or whether
it was deleted, I don't know. In reading the manual, it suggests this
feature displays only after connecting the iPhone with an original Apple
cable. I've tried with a generic cable with no success, and will try again
when I can locate an Apple cable. I don't know how else to authenticate if
I have Apple CarPlay with this SUV, but it seems in the early years I had
it, I recall its presence. Can it be installed now if it isn't?

Pandora works automatically when I start the car, but with only a simple menu presentation that shows the station, song, performer, and a play-bar. My car is a 2019 GMC Acadia SLE, connected to an iPhone 15 with iOS 26.5. By comparison, my sister has an older Chevy Colorado that has a menu similar to what is shown on your introductory screen. I can move to the next song using the forward arrow button, but there is no option to browse or select another station, except on my iPhone. Nor do I see a way to have access to a GPS map guide while listening to Pandora without exiting.

Hi @dbuelke

Welcome to the Pandora Community!

Thanks for taking the time to provide all those details about your setup.

Based on your description, it sounds like your GMC may be connected to Pandora through Bluetooth, which typically provides basic playback controls and information such as the station name, song title, artist, and play progress. When connected this way, browsing stations and other Pandora features generally remain available only on the phone itself.

Just to confirm, are you currently connected through Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, or the vehicle's built-in Pandora integration?

If you're using Bluetooth, what you're describing would be expected behavior. However, if your vehicle supports Apple CarPlay and you're connected through CarPlay, the experience may be different and provide additional controls directly through the vehicle display.

Regarding navigation, Pandora should continue playing while using a GPS or mapping app, even if you move away from the screen. However, if the navigation app provides spoken directions, you may notice Pandora briefly lower in volume or pause while those directions are announced. Once the navigation prompt is finished, Pandora should resume normal playback automatically.

Let me know which connection method you're using. Thanks!

Hi @dbuelke!

Thanks for the follow up! Installing CarPlay, I believe, depends on your vehicle manufacturer and your vehicle. I would reach out to GMC for further details.

In the meantime, feel free to take a picture of your infotainment screen when you're connected, and I can confirm how you're connecting.

You can include pictures directly here in this thread. This is best done on a web browser or mobile browser, you won't be able to include pictures through email.

Thanks!

Use your mobile device only when conditions allow and as permitted by applicable law.
