Google Home: Unable to cast or use voice commands

I'm a Pandora Premium subscriber. I can't play my Pandora stations on any Google Home devices. I've been doing so for years, but a few weeks ago it stopped working.

If I try to cast from my phone (or my wife's phone, or any other phone I've tried), the Home device makes the connection sound, then after a few seconds a message comes up in the app and says, "Oops, we are unable to cast at this time." If I try to play one of my stations using voice commands, instead of playing the requested station, the device will just say, "Playing some music from Pandora," and it will start playing some random music that is nothing like the music that I ever listen to (or would even want to listen to). It doesn't seem to be related to my linked Pandora account at all.

Welcome to community!

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Google Home. Can you confirm your iOS and Pandora version?

Also, just to rule it out, have you already tried unlinking and re-linking your account through the Google Home App?

In the meantime, I've passed along your information to our engineering team for further review. I'd also like to ask that you send a diagnostic to Google as well. You can do this by requesting content again, and when it fails to launch correctly, file feedback with Google by saying "Ok Google, file feedback."

This will send a diagnostic report to Google.

Thanks for your response. I have tried unlinking and relinking my Pandora account multiple times with no improvement.

Here is my phone/app information: Pandora App: 2411.1, iOS Version: 18.1 Phone: iPhone 13 Pro

In the mean time I have conducted some additional investigation. I have determined that if I log into Pandora on my phone using a different Pandora account, casting works as expected. As soon as I log back in using my own Pandora account, the casting error returns. So, it looks like the issue is related to something specific to my account.

There is another thing that I noticed which may be related. I have recently started getting frequent errors when logging into Pandora on the web. Specifically, I receive the following error:

errorCode: 1001,
errorString: "INVALID_REQUEST"

}

I am wondering if the issues that I am seeing could be related to authentication failures when Google reaches out to the Pandora APIs with a token based on my credentials.

Same! I've tried reinstalling everything. When I try to cast to my Nest speakers, the session ends immediately. Other services work, so it has to be a Pandora problem.

Has there been any proposed solution? I am having this exact same issue trying to cast my Pandora music to Google Home devices.

Unlinking/Re-linking does not work.

Force closing the Google Home and Pandora apps and reopening them does not work.

When I try to cast, I can hear my Google Home Device briefly ringing a tone to signify a connection was made but then the "Oops! We are unable to cast at this time" error appears and the connection is lost.

It seems whenever Pandora updates the app... STOPS WORKING with Google Home! UGH!

I go through approx 10 different troubleshooting tasks and typically have been able to get it to reconnect to home in the past but today's fix was new/first time...

Pandora was acting as a separate / non logged in user on google home, so I checked to make sure it was still my default music service on my google home and it was NOT. How?! Why?! Literally was working and playing music all day yesterday and today its no longer my default music service. LAME. Re-Linked pandora to Home and then Pandora goes into OFFLINE mode repeatedly when trying to play on home devices.

Still won't play. This all started when lame pandora announced this lame #amp thing and now it just not working with home. It must be some authentication failure and/or updated needed between home & pandora APIs ... at some point (weeks, months) it will work again or never work again.

I wish they Pandora prioritized broadcasting to speakers vs allowing creators to create on pandora. Don't we use pandora so we do not have to create ?!? Supposed to be the music genome leader 🙄 smdh

I’ve been a Pandora subscriber for well over a decade and this break down and lack of any resolution to a table stakes function has me just a few moments from canceling my subscription and reluctantly moving the YouTube Music. If we can get some recognition that this issue is known and a planned fix date then I would prefer to stay but this “turn it off and turn it back on” recommendation has not worked for anyone with this issue.

I’m having the same issue. Pandora app on my iPhone and iPad says no devices available, but they are all up and running.

Hi @Beautifulone_2 , sorry for the trouble.

If you're having issues casting, and you haven't tried them yet , please try these steps:

Check to see if there are any updates available for your Pandora app and update if needed.
Make sure your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast device.
Try reinstalling or clearing app data for Pandora on your device.
Restart your Chromecast device by unplugging the power source and plugging it back in.
Restart the Pandora app on your device.
Run the Chromecast app to set up your Chromecast device again.

I was finally able to solve it... by buying a Sonos. 😝

My office mate was having all the exact same Google Nest problems at the exact same times, but she uses Apple Music, not Pandora. That was enough know the problem had been Google all along.

I have a Sonos beam and it doesn't connect is just as useless as Pandora. Not ruling Google out tho. They are just as bad. If I restart my Google hub or the hub max. It works fine. So who's at fault? Google? Pandora?

My Sonos is out of the water when it comes to casting. It used to work, then their latest update it broke. I regret buying it.
