Hi @Auen1 !

Hmmm from what I know, playing music to babies can stimulate the creation of new and more neural pathways, which can help, as explained by @sundaysinjuly , for early language, pattern recognition, and connection.

However, as an adult, is not always great to sleep with music, maybe calming nature sounds as that helps our brain relax, but other music can stimulate the brain activity and stop other processes that happen when sleeping (like brain repairing and setting up the memories of the day). Also it can disrupt the sleeping cycle.

Does anyone else listen to music while they are asleep? Better yet, if you do, have you ever woken up because of a song that was playing? Certainly I can't be the only to ever do this. What is most interesting to me is the implications that it could have. What those are exactly, whether good, bad, or indifferent would be irrelevant to them happening. I have heard that playing music to babies can influence their intelligence. In a sense, this would be like musical osmosis, I guess? Feel free to share any thoughts or knowledge that you may have regarding this.

When I do, I like enabling the sleep timer so the music doesn't continue playing for a long time.

I also like listening calm music so it doesn't interrupt my sleep..

I'm not sure if music influences baby's intelligence, but I think it does help them to have a better development.

I do remember waking up one night to this song Cold Song by Jewel. The song is funny, and just when she says, "Do you wanna catch a cold with me?" I woke up at that very moment, saying the same line...I just started laughing. How odd, or ironic, is that? I also woke up another time to a song that said, "Hey, you." And I responded What do you want? I think if my memory serves me correctly, it was Pink Floyd's song Hey You. Again, I just started laughing...

Great post, thanks for sharing. Take care and GOD bless.

I love music at night! I listen to music or some water sounds almost every night. It’s usually a mix of rain sounds or gentle water flowing, like a stream or the beach. Other nights, I’ll put on some soft classical music. I can’t say for sure if there are any health benefits, but I know it always helps me relax and unwind.

This is an interesting topic.

You’re definitely not the only one. I’ve had that happen a few times and always found it interesting how a particular melody or lyric can pull you out of sleep. It’s amazing how deeply music can affect our minds, even when we’re not fully awake. For babies, music can help with early language, pattern recognition, and connection.
