Won’t switch to offline

Pandora won’t switch to offline mode. We live in an area with poor/no cell service. We have a lot of music downloaded . It plays fine at home (WiFi) but when we get in our car and drive away from the house it loses the plot and just buffers/stops. Basically useless.

Hi @bobssubs , can you please try to manually activate offline and tell me more about what happens?

To listen offline from a mobile device, you can use the following steps:

Tap the Profile tab and then the Settings gear in the top right corner.
Toggle Offline Mode on.

Once Offline Mode has been enabled, you will see only the content in your collection that has been downloaded for offline listening.

Can you tell me what happens when you do this manually? does it still buffers?

Also, can you tell me the make and model of your phone?

Hey Maria - it works if I manually switch but that’s kinda impossible when you’re driving and realize it won’t switch automatically. If we have to switch manually every time can you help me cancel my new sub and get a refund.? Oh I’m on iPhone 16pro with the latest OS.

I see, actually it should automatically change to offline when you loose connection. Can you tell me a bit more about this?

Does this happen only when connected to your vehicle? Or does it also happen when you go on a walk?

In the meantime please try the standard iOS troubleshooting steps and let me know if it continues to buffer after that.

If you have already tried, please let me know.

It happens whether in the vehicle or on a walk.

I’ve done the iOS steps you mentioned.

Interestingly it starts off playing whatever song is buffered then, when that song ends and we are in a ‘no coverage’ location, it just says ‘buffering’ and won’t play anything. -even after we later come back in 5G areas. We have to close the app completely and restart , then it wakes up, connects to the internet and starts playing again. So it doesn’t seem to recognize when there’s no coverage to switch to downloaded music and when it’s back in a coverage area it doesn’t recognize that either and needs a restart.

…and new information – I again deleted the app, then completely turned off the iphone, turned it back on, reinstalled the app and it now works….it switched to downloaded songs! …at least so far, one trip. Hope all this helps your team. More data soon
