Out of place tracks playing on Motown Radio

Pandora stations are offering music that doesn't match the genre of the station. Fleetwood Mac and Cat Stevens are not Motown artists. Is there someone that I can talk to about this?

Please check out the accepted solution to this thread if you are hearing music that doesn't match the genre of your station: Hearing out of place tracks on station

If your station is still playing tracks that are out of place after running through the troubleshooting steps provided in that thread, we'd be happy to help look into it further.

The next time an out of place track plays on your station, please give the track a thumbs down and write us back with the following:

The name of the station you were listening to:
The date/time the out of place track(s) played
The name(s) of the out of place artist(s) on the station.
The title(s) of the out of place track(s) that played.
A screenshot of the out of place track playing on the now playing screen.
Were you able to give the out of place track(s) a Thumbs down?
Were you listening using a Pandora Mode like Crowd Faves, Discovery or Deep Cuts?

Were you listening using a Pandora Mode like Crowd Faves, Discovery or Deep Cuts? no

@CatDreamer Thanks for following up and providing those additional details. I understand how hearing a song or artist that doesn’t match what you expect from a station can be frustrating.

I took a closer look at “Somebody’s Watching Me” by Rockwell, and in this case, the track isn’t considered out of place on the Motown station. Rockwell was signed to Motown Records, and “Somebody’s Watching Me” was released through Motown (check out his bio on Pandora here😞

Because the Motown station covers a broader range of music and artists associated with the label, you may occasionally hear songs like this alongside the Motown music you’re more familiar with.

That said, you did the right thing by giving the track a Thumbs Down. I recommend continuing to use Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down to let Pandora know which songs you do and don’t want to hear. Over time, your feedback helps personalize the station toward your listening preferences.

Another option would be to create a new station based on a specific Motown artist or song that better represents the sound you’re looking for. A station created from a more specific artist or track may provide a more focused listening experience than the broader Motown station.
