1. Does a switch to a family plan result in the loss of what is saved on an existing premium account, or does one user get to keep that original plan?

2. Can a family member on a family plan reside in another state (college)? The student discount does not make sense for us in this case as the family plan would be cheaper. The student's official mailing address is still with his family, he just happens to be away at school.

I received the following from the Adam bot and have a follow-up question.

"Each person will need to have their own Pandora account registered under their own personal email address prior to you upgrading to the family plan." So, my question is, Do the people joining a family plan need to have an existing PAID account such as Plue or Premium, or can they have an ad-free account that is free? I know they need their own email address for an account; I am just checking to verify it can be a free account.
