Why is Pink Floyd considered a more accomplished Band than The Moody Blues?

I think I Agree But I'm not sure WHY...

I've been wondering for a while now.

@striderltd Good day to you...Well, here is my take on what you posted.

I’m not sure it’s accurate to say Pink Floyd is “more accomplished” than The Moody Blues — they were simply aiming at different emotional destinations.

Pink Floyd built their legacy on conceptual ambition, studio experimentation, and cultural impact. The Moody Blues built theirs on melody, harmony, and emotional storytelling.

Those aren’t levels on a ladder — they’re branches on the same tree.

If someone measures accomplishment by influence, sales, or production innovation, Floyd will stand out. If someone measures it by spiritual themes, vocal blend, or romantic songwriting, the Moodies shine in their own way.

To me, it’s like comparing two great directors with different intentions. Both succeeded at what they set out to do.

Pink Floyd speaks to the mind. The Moody Blues speak to the heart.

And depending on which voice you need at a given moment, your answer might change.

I’d actually love to hear what each band means to you all personally. Which songs hit you hardest, and why? That’s the part of these conversations I enjoy most — the human side of the music.

Many Pink Floyd fans will either choose The Wall or Dark Side of the Moon... For me, it is Pink Floyd's album The Wall that became my favorite. As far as the Moody Blues go, well, here is my choice. The Best Of The Moody Blues.
