why wont my pandora pause or skip? And i have to restart my phone to get pandora turned off after newest update

Pandora will not turn off I had to turn the phone completely off and restart it to have Pandora shut down. Pandora would not even pause as the song was playing. how do I correct this?

Usually occurs after long term play. When i attempt to pause the JBL, it doesnt work. Then i try to pause my droid it does not work, so i restart Pandora.

I have the same exact issue where the player locks up while connected to my car and will not skip songs.  I have to force close and restart.  If I manually select a new song while in this locked up state, it will start playing the new song over the existing song (both songs playing simultaneously).

The issue started back in January after an update but I have been to lazy to take action until now.  This issue seems to be related to Galaxy phones?

  • Carrier: T-mobile
  • Android version: 14
  • Pandora version: 2403.1
  • Are you connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data when this is happening?: Both
  • Have you encountered any error messages? If so, what exactly does it say?: No error message, player just freezes and won't allow skipping songs.
  • Does this only happen when connected to a Bluetooth device or also when streaming directly from your phone speaker?: I have only seen this happen when connected over BT to my car.

Has Pandora come up with a solution to the unresponsive app on Galaxy S22 phones? 

Respectfully, 

My free trial of Spotify ends this week. I have been using it the past two months. Their app works with every device in my household. Looking like it will be worth the aggravation of making the rest of the family switch over.

Yes, not to care and just hope we either accept their terrible customer support while keep paying or just go away.  With this issue in existence for 6+ months I really feel they couldn't care less.  

 

For all I know they might start charging a premium on top our premium for a new form of service that works. Isn't that how it works?  Like the frog in a pot of pandora water that begins to boil.  They'll charge us for pandora ice cubes.

I am also experiencing freezing. Mine might be a little different as I'm able to force quit the application and relaunch to un-freeze, but this happens sporadically throughout the day, native speakers, bluetooth headset or Android Auto. It seems to happen often when something else (browser, PocketCasts, Duolingo, etc.) is trying to play audio out, but I'm not certain this is 100% correlated. 

 

  • Model: Samsung Galaxy S23 Model SM-S911U
  • Carrier: Verizon
  • Android version (Settings > About Phone): 14
  • Pandora version (Go to Profile, then select Settings. Scroll to the bottom of the screen for the version number. Version 2403.1 (Android-Tuner 24031003)
  • Are you connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data when this is happening? Both
  • Have you encountered any error messages? If so, what exactly does it say? No. Just freezes and I have to force kill the app and relaunch to regain control.
  • Does this only happen when connected to a Bluetooth device or also when streaming directly from your phone speaker? both, as well as Android Auto via USB cable

Clearly Pandora isn't going to fix this problem after several months, just cancelled my subscription.

Canceled today and switch to spotify. Pandora refunded me since my subscription renewed in March but they wont give me my money back for November-March. If you buy a premium Spotify subscription gift card, you can save money. It costs $99 for a year.

Sometimes when I hit stop or close pandroa app music continues to play. In order for it to stop playing turn my phone completely off and turn it back on music stop

Attached is the screenshot of my account. Same situation. I just received an email my subscription will be increasing and I'm considering cancelling since the app has gone on the fritz.

  • Are you connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data when this is happening? Both. In the car it's data. At work it's on wi-fi. It's worse on data though. 
  • Have you encountered any error messages? If so, what exactly does it say? No error messages. Just continuous playing and an inability to pause/play/skip using my steering wheel prompts or prompts on my device. Have to force stop the app and reopen. 
  • Does this only happen when connected to a Bluetooth device or also when streaming directly from your phone speaker? Both. I notice it more frequently with Bluetooth though.

Same as everyone else. Just posting here to get visibility.  Tried creating multiple tickets with Pandora support and they won't even respond.  Can't pause or skip songs.  Happening multiple times throughout the day.  Been a premium family member for over a decade.  Happens to both my wife and I at random.  I have a galaxy s21 and she has a galaxy s23.  Tried the background/battery optimization settings and all that jazz.  Still happens.

So i did what pandora recommened (settings->apps->pandora->clear data) and it worked. Remember tho, itll clear your password so have it ready.

Hello Alyssa,

Have there been any updates on this issue?  Many are still experiencing it 5 months later. Should I be looking at other streaming services? This issue is extremely frustrating, and not worth the subscription price. Thank you.

I got switched to Pandora by TMo because they concluded their contract with Tidal. The diff between the 2 services is night and day. The broken bluetooth/widget control has been going on for months. They dgaf. Pandora is such a downgrade from Tidal...

Let me start by saying I am beyond frustrated and over this issue, and that this issue has been going on for months, as well as happening to my best friend, so I know it's not just my app needing an update, nor my phone.

The issue is that we'll be listening to Pandora, and go to skip or pause a song, and Pandora will break. 

For example, I'll be listening on my phone, doesn't matter if it's with or without any Bluetooth device connected, and I'll go to either skip a song or pause the music, and nothing happens. I'll go to the app, and the pause, skip, go back buttons are grayed out, as though it's like frozen. This will happen MULTIPLE times, regardless of station, song, how many times I skip through songs, how many times I shut the app/force stop the app and reopen it. Sometimes, this will happen immediately after "fixing" the issue, and I'm done. 

I'm not going to pay for a music app that can't do it's one job, which is to constantly stream music, and no. It's not because an ad pops up, because I have Pandora premium, which I'll be dropping and I'll put up with ads if it means not having to constantly have the app open just to be able to use it like it should.

Very frustrated with app it will not let you go forward or pause song or let you turn off unless you close app or restart phone up to this point I was happy with the app but as of recently I'm about ready to cancel if they don't fix this. This is not what I'm paying for

Still no Ui 6.1 update even tho Samsung said April 10 for zfold 4. How can Pandoras app have a 4.0 rating on playstore? No honesty about this app and that saddens me, I put a rating and posted my issues and wow the rating never made it.

I have had the same pandora plus for years now, Enjoyed its music algorithm the best. Now it's becoming annoying because It will continue to play a Song after numerous attempts to pause it. It will also randomly start playing again up to twenty minutes later. To shut off immediately when you would switch to something like YouTube for a second to see a video. And I would be able to go back and play the song from where? I left off. How did it work so smoothly for so long and now it **ahem**? Even while i'm posting this, it started to play a disturbed song three different times after I repeatedly tried to pause the song. I've got years of song saved on this or I would have switched already.
