Same issue, just starting happening when my account was auto renewed 03/02/21.

Clearing the date worked on all my devices that had this time out issue.  I was apprehensive because of the warning saying this would clear everything out. Happy to report all my stations remained in tact!

Hi, @Bamajess32. 👋

Please check out my post about the Pandora app timing out / stopping on your device here.

If you still have trouble, could you share a bit more about your device?

  • Model:
  • Carrier:
  • Android version (Settings > About Phone):
  • Pandora version (Go to Profile, then select Settings. Scroll to the bottom of the screen for the version number.):
  • Are you connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data when this is happening?

Let me know. 🎧

Open App Settings, find Battery Settings, enable "Allow Background Activity" for Pandora, or disable "Put to Sleep".  This solved it for me. I also cleared data and cache. The root cause is a recent Android update.

Hi, @Jimp2928. 👋

When updating the OS on Android devices, the battery optimization on all apps may be automatically turned back on by default.

This can cause performance issues or interfere with playback when the app is backgrounded. Due to the sheer volume of Android devices, we are unable to provide step by step instructions for each and every device. I recommend looking up the steps to manage battery optimization for the specific make and model of your device and disable this for the Pandora app.

If you own a Samsung device, you may also want to check your Sleeping Apps settings.

++

If you continue to have trouble after checking your battery optimization / sleeping apps, I would recommend running through the standard troubleshooting steps below.

From your Android Settings, please try clearing the Pandora app data using the following steps (not to worry, we'll keep track of your profile and collection for you):*

  1. Open your device Settings
  2. Tap Apps
  3. Scroll down to find Pandora
  4. Select Storage
  5. On the storage details page tap Clear Data.

Keep in mind that the steps for each Android device is slightly different. If you have a Pixel, you can check out Google's help page for steps on how to clear space on your device.

Please note that you will be asked to log into your account after completing these steps.

*Pandora Premium and Premium Family listeners may need to re-download some of their offline content after this. Pandora Plus users, however, should receive that offline content again automatically. If you have any trouble with your offline stations after this, please let us know.

I am running the Pandora app on my Android (Samsung) and recently each song is stopping mid-song. And no other song plays.

At first I thought this was related to my screen lock kicking in but it now seems random. But I cannot get through any song fully playing.

Is there a setting somewhere that I need to adjust?

@Orlandoan Nice to see you around the Community.

To clarify:

  1. Does the music stop when the app is backgrounded (while you are using other apps)? Or does the music pause regardless of whether or not the Pandora app is actually open?
  2. Is there an error message? If so, what does it say?
  3. Can you provide me with a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Thanks for working with me on this. 🤝

The music pauses regardless.

There is no error message - the app looks like the song just stopped playing. It was paused.
