Pandora turns itself on every time it connects to my truck

Every time I start my truck and my phone connects. Pandora turns itself on and begins playing music. I have everything in the app that is auto play turned off. I have no background music on my iPhone and no matter what I do. The app opens itself and begins playing, and you can see the app in the black bubble at the top of the iPhone  this is an iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 18.3.1. it is very agitating to have to open the app from the top bubble and close it every time  the app doesn’t show in the background. It just shows that it’s open in the top black bubble at the very top of every iPhone

Hi @TNDuramax

Just wanted to follow up and let you know that I've passed along your experience to our engineering team for further investigation and added your info to an internal ticket.

I was curious if any of the disabled toggles came back automatically without interaction from you.

Thanks!

Hi @TNDuramax

Welcome to community!

Has this been happening or has Pandora recently started launching on its own when in your truck? Do you connect with only Bluetooth or do you have CarPlay? I also wanted to confirm that Launch From Car is also disabled in your settings. Thanks for the additional information.

This is an ongoing problem for years, and affects Android phones as well. I have actually uninstalled Pandora multiple times from multiple phones because of this. Currently have Galaxy S24 and connect to Android auto via cable and bluetooth. Autoplay is turned off in both Pandora and the Android Auto apps. You can't get to Android Auto settings from the car display anymore. It happens every single time I connect to Android Auto, but never at any other time. After at least 3 years of people complaining about this issue (this is my 3rd complaint), is someone actually working the problem, or am I going to be uninstalling Pandora yet again?

I have autoplay turned off. It happens anytime bluetooth connects. Headphones and my truck I do not use Carplay in my truck but it is there. Its a 2020 duramax. It did the same with Audible the other day. It just pops up in the black status bar at the top of the Iphone 15. I am running iOS18.3.1

Yes It used to happen in my older Duramax too. Its anything with Bluetooth. As soon as my Bluetooth connects it starts playing. I have deleted and reinstalled so many times I cant remember. The app isn't the only one that does it. Last time Audible did the same thing. I have shut everything off I can see. I guess I need to start using Spotify. I hate it because pandora will bring up songs I haven't heard but if its been going on 3 years that's terrible customer service on their end.

No, none of the autoplays ever turned themselves back on.

I was poking around in some of my phone settings and think I may have fixed the problem. Unfortunately, I have no idea what setting I changed. It was buried somewhere deep.

No I have checked them multiple times they are 100% off and have never come back on. I actually was coming into my office for the company I work for right now. I am the VP of service but I was going into the HR directors office(who is married to our CEO) and pulled my phone out to show her pictures of a wreck one of my employees just had with a company vehicle when Pandora turn itself on and volume was all the way up. Unfortunately it came on and played a song randomly by a rap group here in Memphis which while a obvious classic for the ages is not the song to play even by accident at that moment but nevertheless slob on my knob played for a few seconds before I could get it stopped.  So if we could get an answer before I am fired "That be great" -Office Space 1999 gotta site my sourcesMan

I wish you could figure out what you switched because it makes me wanna jump to spotify I would hate to do that Pandora.

This is out of hand. You can have your phone near anything bluetooth. I have cut it off everything that says it cuts on automatically and its absolutely a pandora issue. I am seriously considering deleting the app.

Pandora turns itself on repeatedly on iPhone. Any suggestions before I'm forced to delete this app?

Can anyone tell me why Pandora cannot be stopped. It is coming on by itself approx. 50 times a day. When it hooks to any Bluetooth device it turns its self on and starts playing music. It cuts on in my truck it comes on if i connect headphones it cuts on in meetings (I am VP for my company) and its just out of hand. Pandora has set this up to turn on anytime it gets a Bluetooth connection. Even if it was already connected and I hang up from a call it will turn itself on and be hiding in the little black bubble at the top of the iPhone. The app wont be open but in the background but stays doing this all day. I have shut off everything pandora has told me to and I even checked the iPhone.  I also have Spotify it does NOT do this so its 100% pandora. If I cant get some kind of resolution with this app this will be my last week. I am not paying for an app that they have intentionally made take over your phone and there doesn't seem to be a way to stop it from doing this junk. I am open to any suggestions but if I cant get it fixed I just have to get rid of it. Its causing embarrassing issues in meetings in conversation really in anything you have your phone around for it takes over and does what it wants.

Hi @TNDuramax ,

I would like to confirm a couple of things:

  1. You mentioned that it happens when it hooks up with any Bluetooth connection, o is it only happening with Bluetooth or does it happens when the phone is not connected to anything else?
  2. Does it start playing our loud without opening the app? Meaning that you have to search for the app and open it so you can cut it off?
  3. I also understand that you tried some steps to stop this, coud you verify if hese are the steps you followed?

You can disable the option to launch Pandora by using the following steps:

    • Open Pandora.
    • Tap Profile.
    • Next select the Settings gear in the upper right corner.
    • Tap Advanced.
    • Under Bluetooth for devices uncheck the box next to Launch from car.

Thanks for working on this with me.

I accidentally hit accept as an answer but no this did nothing. I already had it done it still connects as soon as it connects to Bluetooth or if its already connect to BT and I get a phone call once I hang up it turns itself on. Nothing works. I cancelled but it automatically renewed so I have 26 days to figure it out and if I cant I will go back to Spotify and cancel. I am tired of it taking over my phone and I can guarantee you pandora knows it doesn't this because I see so m any complaints about it but they make ZERO effort to fix it.   It will drive you crazy. I do not want music playing unless I turn it on why do we need it to automatically cut on and open the app that is stupid. I am frustrated and everyone says the same thing just turn off auto. That does nothing it still cuts right back on. The only way to make it not work sometimes is if you cut off cellular data then it wont cut on unless there is WIFI there.  I will gladly make a video and send it to someone at PANDORA so they can see what it does. I have a new iPhone 15pro max that is 4 months old. It used to not do this so this is something they've done in the last year.  I will see and try anything anyone has for an solution but nothing has worked so far and there is no customer service for pandora besides this so you cant get any help.
