Desktop: Playback stops after 1 song

My pandora quits after each song and won't replay unless you go in and hit play. This has never happened before. Can you let me know if there is something I can do?
I am listening on an Apple IMAC computer.

Thank you.

Happens at work, have been using pandora for years on the same network. it happens when using the web browser and the desktop app. It is worse with the app. If i a  listening  on the web browser to my personal collection stuff it will only play a few songs, if i choose artist only it will play all day. If im using a playlist then it seems to be ok. The app wont generally make it through a full song before it quits.  all devices at home and phone app work ok.

@TROYM It sounds like you might be running into network firewalls at work. Sometimes IT departments decide to limit their user's access to music streaming services like Pandora. If it isn't working when you listen from the office, you may want to check with your IT department to make sure that they haven't blocked your access to streaming services.

Let me know how it goes.

IT says that have nothing in place to limit or filter pandora.  That would not explain why listening to pandora channels play ok but my personal playlist will not play ok. Or if i listen to artist only on my playlist its ok.

Hi @TROYM , thanks  for checking in with your IT team.

Can you please try opening Pandora in an Incognito Window. If it works there, the issue may be caused by a browser setting or extension.

Then we can try to troubleshoot Pandora on Chrome:

  • Update Chrome to the latest version.
  • Delete Browsing Data (history, cache, and cookies).
  • Allow pop-ups for Pandora under Settings > Privacy & Security > Site Settings.
  • Turn off extensions like Disable HTML5 Autoplay, Adblock, and NoScript, or allow www.pandora.com within them. You can also try checking other extensions just to make sure is not that.

Now, considering that you mentioned that it happens when you are at work, besides the network firewalls, a common practice on work settings is to use a VPN. Please check if you have an active VPN and the VPN settings to ensure Pandora isn’t blocked.

Another common tool for security are Proxy servers, could you please verify if that may be the situation.

After verifying this and trying the steps described above, please restart your computer and try Pandora again.

Let me know how it goes.

@cterry877 I'm happy to help look into this further.

Playback stops after 1 song on web:

To help me better understand what’s happening with playback stopping, could you share:

  • What are you listening to (station, album, playlist, or podcast)?
  • Are you receiving any error messages? If so, what exactly does it say?

It's also helpful to know:

  • Are you on a Mac or Windows computer?

    • If you're using Windows, which OS version are you running (Windows 10, Windows 11)?

  • Are you listening through our website or the Pandora Desktop App?

    • If you're using the website, which browser and version are you using?

Playback stops after 1 song on iOS:

Could you explain what's happening in more detail? The more information you can provide, the better I can help.

When this issue occurs:

  • Is the app still open in the background where you're able to press play and resume music or do you need to close and relaunch the app to continue listening?
  • Are you listening to a station, album, playlist, or podcast?
  • Are you connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data? If using Wi-Fi, are you able to recover the listening session by toggling Wi-Fi off?
  • Are you using a Bluetooth connection?

Additionally, please provide both your iOS and Pandora app versions:

  • iOS version: (Settings > General > About > Version)
  • Pandora version: (Pandora > Profile tab > Settings gear & scroll to the bottom of the screen)

Thanks for your help!

This issue recently started for me while using Pandora in Google Chrome on a laptop. I will start playing a playlist I created and after a couple songs the playlist stops and it doesn't play the next song. I also can't just press the play button, I have to refresh the page for the playlist to begin playing again.

@SamiElise Sorry for any trouble.

Are you receiving any error messages when the music stops? If so, what exactly does it say?

Let me know.
