Desktop App: Cannot Use Bluetooth Audio After

synthworks

Hi,

If I use Pandora Desktop before a meeting, I have to completely reboot my machine before my bluetooth headset can be used.

What are you doing to the audio drivers that could cause this?   This happens when I use either Skype or GoToMeeting.

I have been using the desktop app for so long that I had not even remembered that you had a web interface also.   I will be trying that later.

Jim

Hi there, @synthworks. 👋

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble.

Let's try some troubleshooting steps to see if we can resolve the issue.

First, try resetting the Pandora app from the Help menu (not to worry, we'll keep track of your profile and collection for you). Press Alt on your keyboard to bring up a menu options at the top of the page, then select Help and Reset App Data.

If you're still having issues, try uninstalling and reinstalling using the following steps:

  1. Locate Pandora in your Start Menu, and right-click to reveal an additional menu. Select Uninstall from the dropdown menu. From there, select Pandora from the list and confirm by selecting Uninstall once more.
  2. Next, find our app in the Windows Store on your device. Search for Pandora in the upper right corner and click or tap Get to re-install.

Please note that downloading any application on your devices requires a Microsoft account and password, and it may be a different email address and password than those on your Pandora account.

Also, we do not support Pandora on unofficial OS releases, like preview or developer builds. We only support Pandora on configurations that we have fully tested, so as to ensure the application will work correctly and not cause any problems with functions of the device.

I hope this helps. 🎧

Is there something in your suggestion that will change how Pandora interacts with the blue tooth audio drivers?

It reminds me of the story,

One day a hardware engineer, software engineer are riding in a car driven by a system engineer.  On going down the hill, the brakes fail.   The system engineer expertly steers the car into the guard rail and grinds the car to a stop.   Immediately the hardware engineer grabs a tool box, jumps out of the car, and starts to prepare to work on the brakes.   The software engineer gets out and screams, "What on earth are you doing?   We should not be examining the brakes, we should be taking the car back to the top of the hill and see if it fails again."

So I will try your suggested fix, but I feel like I am following the advice of the software engineer and am suspicious that you are hoping for a miracle.

I have not loaded windows 11 yet.   Do you support it yet?

Thanks for the follow up, @synthworks. The steps I sent over are general troubleshooting for the desktop app to make sure everything is running smoothly and up to date. You should be able to listen to Pandora while using Windows 11.

I've checked in with our device team about this and the Pandora Desktop app doesn't control the output of sound to your Bluetooth settings. This is likely related to the OS level Bluetooth settings on your device and you may need to alter the output in your settings to be your headphones.

At this time, I would recommend repairing your Bluetooth headset with your computer to see if refreshing the connection helps.

You can also try launching the the Bluetooth troubleshooter built-in to Windows.

  • Open your Settings > Update & Security Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters Bluetooth.
  • From here, you can run the troubleshooter to see if there are any issues.

If the issue persists, I would recommend contacting Microsoft Support to see if they have any suggestions about the Bluetooth connection. You may also find this article to be helpful. 🎧
