Web: Adjust Auto-Playback Setting

aladien

Web autoplay is annoying.  I want the option to start music myself.

Every time I go to the website, which is usually to make a playlist change, the music starts.  I NEVER listen to music on the website so why can't I disable it from autoplaying?  Or at least it's not obvious to me.  Additionally, once I stop the music and click on another link on the site (for ex. a support link) the music starts playing again.  I stop it again, click on yet another link and the music restarts.

This is extremely annoying.  Please fix!

Hey there, @aladien. 👋

Nice to see you around the community space.

You should be able to adjust this setting from your end.

We have this existing article regarding how to allow auto-playback when launching Pandora from a web browser. Using those same steps, you should be able to disable this setting.

You can find the steps here: Web Troubleshooting: Auto-Playback

Hope this helps. 🎧

how do i prevent autoplay when i first load pandora in a brower? On every other webpage on the internet, it is not acceptable to auto play sound due to accessibility issues. Why does Pandora think its ok to not also provide that choice to its users. I've long been reluctant to use pandora out of principle; if they can't have enough respect for the end user to provide an ability to turn off this feature, why should i bother using their service? Perfect example of a greedy corporation forcing an experience onto the user

not helpful. Invalid solution.

First, your documentation seems wrong. I am using Chrome. Your documentation states "Chrome should learn your autoplay preference when you open Pandora." This is incorrect. I've been stoppinng autoplay manually every time I go to pandora.com for years. Furthermore, there is no option in  Chrome's settings to turn off autoplay. There is a setting to turn off all sounds on all sites, yes. I want to turn off AUTOPLAY for PANDORA.COM. This seems to be a Pandora problem. Therefore, I will ask again, how do I turn off autoplay when I visit pandora.com?

Again, how do i prevent pandora.com from autoplaying? I shouldn't need a hack to keep my devices accessible to my needs just to use your services.

i can simply not be a customer if indeed Pandora doesn't care about accessibility. It seems that will need to be the case.

This first link you sent is fro 2018 and is no longer relevant, as I stated in my earlier post.

The second link is also non applicable since it applies to all websites and all sounds. I  want to disable AUTOPLAY, and autoplay only, and only for pandora.com (no other website that I know of autoplays sound on page load)

Autoplaying sound on a webpage is intrusive and disrespectful. It is the responsibility of pandora to ensure it's website is accessible to it's customers. It is not the responsibillity of the browser to ensure the website is accessible.

Please create an option to disable autoplay so that this website can be useful. Otherwise, whats the point of being a subscriber and paying for a junk service?

Welcome and thanks for being a part of the Community @kpducharme! 🎉

Unfortunately, we no longer support Internet Explorer. Please use one of our supported browsers for listening to Pandora, like Firefox, Chrome, Safari, or Microsoft Edge.

Adjusting Auto-Playback

When you decide to use one of the following browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, or Microsoft Edge.), visit here to adjust your browser's autoplay preferences.

Hope this helps!

Hi. Oddly, the article referenced by Gerald only addresses how to troubleshoot Autoplay *not* working. I would very much like to turn Autoplay off. Pandora starts playing before I have a chance to choose a station, which is extremely jarring. I happen to be using Chrome on PC, but I would hope disabling Autoplay would be a standard feature on every platform.

Thanks,
Jonathan
