Ideas: Ability to merge stations

Ideas: Ability to merge stations

It would be great to have the ability to permanently merge selected stations into one.  All the seeds, thumbs-ups, and thumbs-down from all selected stations would merge into one station.

> This would give all the people who have a ton of stations the ability to consolidate and organize them without having to delete stations they like, and without having a complicated group/folder system.

> It would encourage people to use stations to explore unfamiliar genres more without ending up with so-so or too many stations.

> Consolidating is another tool to create some really powerful, amazing stations that you couldn't get by just adding seeds.

I've wanted this feature for over ten years. Let's make it happen.

This would be cool if you could make the new station besides the old one, keeping the old station in the end.

What pisses me off is we used to be able to redirect a song to a different station, but the feature was removed. It was INCREDIBLY useful, as quite often a song comes along that's awesome, but doesn't fit at all the current vibe of the station.

This should be dead simple in design: Show a thumbnail list of songs used as seeds and thumbs-up. Each has a checkmark (or similar function) next to it. After picking which we want, have options to "create new station", maybe with options:

  • Seed: create new station from selection, leaving current station unchanged.
  • Split: create new station from seleciton, also removing these tracks from this station

Instead for YEARS now, I've had to resort to taking screenshots of really good songs before I thumbs-down on the station they popped up on, then typing out the details, and seeking the song directly.

But you can't even get a simple list of what songs you have given a thumbs up to: no, you are shown a dozen-ish at a time, have to click "show more", and keep scrolling to the new bottom, hoping that your browser doesn't crash from the unoptomized slop of a mess the site runs on.

Then you "simply" copy and paste that list into a text document, listening to snippets one at a time if need be, to group new stations you want to make. Be ultra-careful not to misclick or refresh the Pandora window, or you'll have to spend five minutes "show more → scroll down" again.

Then you have to, ONE AT A TIME, add these songs as seeds. But you can't add them as "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" directly and not full seeds, which are weighted differently, you would actually have to play the new station, HOPING for the songs in your list to come up, so you could give them a thumbs up.

The whole system would sound ridiculous TWENTY YEARS AGO, much less today. We've had file managers since the 1990s that let us select multiple files, and right-click to copy or move to different folder. Yet thirty-five years later we're still begging for this dead-simple concept in something we're expected to pay for montly, with zero input or reply.

Best solution? Quit using Pandora. That’s what I did. That’s how we, the private sector, demonstrate our dissatisfaction with Pandora.

The ability to merge stations would be appreciated. I find myself getting bored with what a specific station after a few months. The discover new and other features under the station are subpar. I understand I can add to a station, but it isn't the same.

When I start over - all of my thumbs up are lost and most of the songs I weeded through are back in the new station for me to weed through once again.

I would also appreciate a settings selection that would automatically filter out mainstream songs, or songs over a certain streaming number.

Also, if I search a specific song, I would like the ability to click "thumbs up" on my ios app, instead of adding to up next.

Part of me feels like the creators of Pandora do not use Pandora. It lacks very basic user-friendly updates. I have been using this app for about 15 years.

Thank you!

Blocking specific artists with a thumb's down selection would also be appreciated.

Come on, this request is almost 6 years old? Why is the pandora individual/family cost roughly the same as Apple Music/Spotify yet the technical innovation is borderline nonexistent?

I agree. And I’m finally done with Pandora. I had stuck with them because they were the first. But I’m now with Spotify. Pandora clearly doesn’t care what we think.

Hi Pandora Product team: I have station sprawl going back over a decade, such that I completely forgot about the Thumbprint station that plays a mix of thumbed up songs. I would LOVE to consolidate the list into a few, and not loose both the seeds and thumbed up tracks of gems. I like Pandora better than Spotify because it seems to play more deep cuts and introduces me to artists. Spotifyr seems to only play current pop with lots of repeats.

Please add a feature to merge two playlists!!
