Apple Music to add lossless audio for no added cost. Definitely Pandora needs to bump up the audio quality now to complete with the other music streaming services.
I'm part of a 2 channel hifi audio group and the majority agree that Pandora has the best algorithm of all the services, but due to lack of audio quality, most have left Pandora and gone to other services. Adding higher quality audio would most definitely bring in a ton of previous and new customers who use streaming services for HiFI setups.
I have been using Pandora since almost the beginning and am now starting to look at Amazon Music as they offer lossless audio through the HEOS app. I really don't want to give up stations I've been building on for years now, but I also want better quality. I see this thread is 4 years old, so it seems like its not something Pandora is really working on.
But what IS Pandora working on? Honestly, this should be one of the foundational features, because we're talking music playback. Recommendations, Quality (lossless). Just these two. The rest is just Electron framework.
Not to mention in this day and age size hardly matters anymore. Long gone are the days of dialup and 256 megabyte flash cards, when 64-320 kbps made sense, and that was the reason compression was introduced in the first place. Now we've got 5G networks, movie streaming, software updates, and so on, that consume way more bandwidth than a humble FLAC will ever do.
