Provide An Exit Selection For Samsung TV App

Provide An Exit Selection For Samsung TV App

There is no Exit selection available in the Samsung TV’s Pandora app. It is available on the Roku Pandora app.

We have other sources connected via HDMI to a NAD T 778 AVR. The Samsung TV is connected to the AVR’s video out. We use the Samsung TV’s streaming apps and utilize ARC for the sound. Because the Samsung Pandora does not provide an Exit, it prevents the AVR from switching from ARC mode to another input device. While the the Samsung’s remote Home button does bring you to the Apps menu screen, Pandora is still showing in the background, paused, which is not true for other apps. We have to choose another Samsung app like YouTube, etc. and then exit that app in order to change to another source like Blu-ray, etc..

Thanks,

John

Hi there, @Jtconte. 👋

Thanks so much for sharing your suggestion! I'm sure other listeners would also be interested in this option.

Pandora for Samsung TV lacks an "Exit" feature under setup so there is no way to exit the app. Pandora for Firestick 4.2.2 does have the Exit feature and I believe it could also be implemented in the Samsung version. Searching the community, I found there are others experiencing the same problem but there is no solution. See the link below.

Re: Samsung TV - Exit app to TV’s Apps Homepage - Pandora Community

This seems to be an integration issue that needs to be resolved by your product development team and Samsung. This is NOT something your customers should have to deal with.

Please fix the Pandora app and add this feature.

More than two years after the original post and still not fixed.  Pandora may not have an interest in getting it fixed because they get paid for every song that is played.  So even though you left the app on the TV Pandora still collects for hours for the songs you never listened to.  Pretty crazy.

Yup, I noticed they don't seem to be too interested in fixing this. On the other hand, Samsung doesn't seem to be interested in 3rd party Apps either so there is no support from them. My workaround is just to use Pandora on my Firestick. I also use it to run other apps that Samsung doesn't support. At least I have that option but there are others out there that don't have a Firestick 🙄
