A classical cellist appearing on Sesame Street, The Simpsons, and Mister Roger's Neighborhood?
Yo-Yo Ma is not your grandparents' cellist. One of classical music's most popular performers, he is known not only for his sensitive and virtuosic playing, but also for the breadth of his output. In addition to collaborating with some of the classical world's most renowned performers, Ma has recorded and performed with bluegrass artist Chris Thile, jazz vocalist Bobby McFerrin, film composers John Williams and Ennio Morricone, and his own Silk Road Ensemble, a collective of musicians with a multicultural Eurasian focus. His warm and engaging charm has won him fans and music lovers of all stripes.
