Is there a way to filter out AI artists

Hi all,

Does there happen to be a way to filter out AI artists? I keep getting them on my stations and it's driving me crazy. I thumbs down a song from the artist but get another one from the same one later. 

I don't want to mess with my station too much, because other than the AI content, I have it pretty dialed in, and I don't want it thinking I don't like the genre.

I avoid most generative AI. Not trying to start a debate. AI has legitimate uses, I am not against all of it, but I don't want my subscription pennies going toward generated music, when real artists could be getting it.

I have been a pandora listener since waaaay early on, and I am seriously considering unsubscribing if I can't make that choice.

I think we need both. It's not always easy to thumb down a song, while you are driving, for instance.

I don't want to see stuff like this in my feed. Six albums released this year already. Each with about 50 songs?

Give us an option to filter out AI generated content please.

even if its not perfect from the start, at least give us something like pinterest has, where ai content gets labeled as such and you can turn off a checkbox slider in your personal settings to show ai recommendations in your feed. pandora what are you doing. like of all the platforms to be aware of the uncontrollable plague of genai, youd think one named PANDORA would be on the side of controlling and managing and containing it... come on, pandora, do the smart thing here and prioritize this update. if you arent gonna remove genai content, at least make it something a user has to opt in to be exposed to. it should be the users choice if they want to open the pandoras box of genai 'content'. @Pandora do better

I just signed up for a year at the premium level. The sound quality is great. I can usually tell which channel or "performer" might be AI. 

At the very least, Pandora needs to address the issue with their response to AI and what measures, if any, they will take to either remove it, or else CLEARLY label if content is AI.

I started my Pandora account when I was probably 14 or 15, that was about 20 years ago for me. I've loved it, I've never used anything else, and I have been a champion of this platform for a long time. I started noticing the ai tracks popping up in my stations recently and it's been a huge disappointment.
There is nothing worse than being in the middle of a groove with some of your favorite artists and tracks and suddenly (and instantly in my case) hearing an ai generated voice with some bland and uninspired mechanical lyrics interrupt. It's honestly insulting to the artists to even put a track like that in the same playlists as someone like Sade, Erykha Badu, or whoever (I listen to everything, so I'm here for you too metal and electronic listeners).
I really hope you have plans to either add filtering options, remove these artists completely, or give users the ability to flag and request removal for these tracks. This is the first time since I've started my account that I've considered closing the doors on Pandora. I'm about to start ripping cassette tapes at this point...

This says there is an accepted solution and there 1000% is not one. Did someone at Pandora do that to try and close this out? Way to ignore the demands of your customers?

Is there a way to "detect" AI based artists in Pandora or other streamimg services and then flag them as a "do not play". i have found a few by asking ai if they were ai. (lol) but its annoying to go out of my way when i find a new artist that keeps poping up.

It's both that I don't want to listen to it AND that I want my royalty dollars to go to real artists. And I'm even one who listens to highly produced synth music and EDM, but lazily allowing AI to conjure something and then getting paid for it? No thank you. 

I don't even want this slop in my EDM feed, but now it's showing up in my Jamiroquai station. 

At minimum, let me put filters on my station that says nothing released after 2023 gets in the feed. 

A trick for now, though not a good one, is change your station type to "Artist Only" so that only the artists you allow will be played. But that means we can't use Pandora to find new artists.

I know how most of you must feel, as I used to feel the same way about AI; however, I have not been able to sing since 2011 and due to RA I can no longer play instruments.  When a friend told me about Suno AI, I felt liberated again and have been able to get my original songs out there again.  I am hoping that Pandora will allow at least a few of my songs on here but if not, that's just what it is.  For artists like myself, I hope you all can understand where I am coming from.  If Pandora does accept my original songs, you can find them under my artist name of Jackie Clark Myers.

I've been an independent traditional musician for 20 years. When I discovered Suno, I was able to take those years of songwriting somewhere I never could have as a solo act—and honestly, farther than my own music had ever reached before.

I had my hesitations at first, like anybody. But stories exactly like yours are one of the biggest reasons I've become such an advocate for generative music.

I kept thinking: What about someone who loses the ability to physically make their music? What about someone who never had that ability in the first place—a non-verbal person, for example? What about somebody dealing with depression who has ideas and emotions but no artistic outlet?

The music I make today with Suno isn't music I would have sung myself, and I certainly didn't have the finances to hire an entire band like most independent musicians obviously do. /s

So it genuinely warms my heart to read your story, @JackieCMyers 

And to the people complaining: traditional artists are not going to stop making music because we exist. We're not somehow taking money that automatically belonged to another artist. Traditional musicians can make great music, mediocre music, and absolute "slop" too. The tool doesn't settle that question—the listener does.

Don't like something? Thumbs down. Skip it. That's completely fair.

Meanwhile, people actually heard my music on Pandora, sought it out afterward on other platforms like YouTube, subscribed, and specifically told me they discovered us there. After roughly 3 million Pandora spins in two months, I then started getting comments from listeners disappointed that Pandora had removed our catalog.

So there's an irony in being called a thief: opposition to generative music quite literally resulted in money being taken out of my pocket—money that wasn't somehow redirected to another musician afterward.

But that's not going to stop me from doing what I love. And I don't expect traditional musicians who love what they do to stop because generative artists exist either.

There's room for people to make music differently.

Nobody is arguing with your right to make your own music with AI, though I would encourage you to think about the environmental impacts of using it. Go ahead and make and enjoy your music. If this is therapeutic for you, that's great. I personally do not want to pay for it. No offense is intended. We're talking about a major music platform here.

Look, @JackieCMyers and @sandozlabz_444, think of it this way. I've always wanted to be a Tech Billionaire, an Olympic gold medalist, and a pro athlete, but as a general pleb without significant athletic talent, that will never happen. That doesn't stop me from playing sports and being in tech, just from achieving notoriety in either.

No one is stopping you from making Suno music. In fact, I make Suno music; I've taken several song lyrics I've written and turned them into generated music for my own entertainment and to share with my friends/family. But much like I've accepted that I'll never be a pro athlete, I've also accepted that I'll never have published music, especially AI-generated music.

I'm not trying to be insensitive, regardless of how it might come off, but the simple truth is I don't want to pay for AI-generated music.

Some people were meant to be pro athletes; some were meant to be pro race car drivers; some were meant to be pro painters; some were meant to be pro singers; some were meant to be pro actors; but most were not.

Wow!  Yes, I hope they add some kind of filter so the REAL ARTISTS can protect themselves from the not so real artists like me.  If and I realize it's a big IF that Pandora accepts my songs, I hope I make tons of royalties because they are original songs and they are good ones.  ba-bye
