Hi all,
Does there happen to be a way to filter out AI artists? I keep getting them on my stations and it's driving me crazy. I thumbs down a song from the artist but get another one from the same one later.
I don't want to mess with my station too much, because other than the AI content, I have it pretty dialed in, and I don't want it thinking I don't like the genre.
I avoid most generative AI. Not trying to start a debate. AI has legitimate uses, I am not against all of it, but I don't want my subscription pennies going toward generated music, when real artists could be getting it.
I have been a pandora listener since waaaay early on, and I am seriously considering unsubscribing if I can't make that choice.
That's what this damned thread is all about. Give me a filter or remove it entirely. I don't actually care how it happens.
I do understand that
Pandora, fix it already! I just had another AI in my feed today. This is unacceptable.
I'll be honest, I use AI for work a lot and to help me in my personal life quite a bit. But there should be a line for art, music, and things that we humans do not share with machines yet. Pushing AI music on the community is disrespectful to us and the artists from so many perspectives. Please just stop!
No clue, I never resolved it 💔
Paid subscriber for years and will be canceling unless they get this figured out. AI artists seem to now be hitting around 15% of the tracks in my rotation now which is entirely unacceptable.
Over 2 months later with no response and now Pandora is raising their rates. I'm out. Call me back when y'all take filtering out the AI slop seriously.
Hamaeel for sure. Just stealing vocalists voices left and right.
There needs to be a way to choose not to get AI filth in your feed. I don’t want my subscription money going to slop that steals artists voices through AI and gives them no credit. @Pandora you should not be enabling this kind of theft. People left Spotify for this kind of nonsense. Give your customers the ability to turn off all AI generated slop. Read the room. You will lose money over this.

It seems obvious that Pandora doesn’t know which tracks are AI, so they can’t label or filter them.
As far as I can tell there is no real Music Genome Project anymore, and they just use the same set of music syndication platforms as everyone else to funnel music straight into listeners’ feeds with minimal categorization, or categorization just provided by those platforms. They have become pure middlemen and have been slowly dying for years.
You can see it everywhere, in the complete lack of progress on their apps or listener experience. The app UX hasn’t changed in over a decade, which is pathetic. They have their revenue and expense ratios dialed in and have pared down their R&D to the bare minimum. I doubt they have enough of a viable engineering team left to do anything; they’re likely completely outsourced and just do what’s needed to update apps for new OS versions. They have grown fat and lazy farming subscription revenue from all of us, and we’ve been relatively undemanding even as streaming has become commoditized. We’re all just locked in because of our curated stations. They know it and the bean counters are terrified.
I suspect now Pandora is raising their rates because they have to invest and start developing real tech to filter AI and do it before all their listeners abandon them to the deep-pocketed players who already can afford to use AI to filter AI. They have to rebuild their atrophied engineering team, and instead of taking a hit on the expense side they’re going to raise revenue and hope that enough of us will stay that their death spiral doesn’t accelerate too much before they can pull off a miracle.
I am a loyal 17-year user and am actually somewhat tolerant of AI music factories in my feed if the tracks can hold their own. But the flood is happening and I really don’t want to deal with it, especially while paying more.
Glax, I suspect you have summed the whole situation up correctly.
