Still hearing ads with Pandora Plus

I clicked on the subscription for the 4.99 a month, after a 30 day free trial. It let me listen for a while, and then suddenly told me I was required to listen to ads as though I didn't get the subscription, and that my "trial was up." It's been an hour or so.

I may have inadvertently turned on the On Demand feature and now I hear ads playing every time I listen to Pandora. How can I disable the On Demand feature so I can return to listening ad free with my Premium Plus subscription? Thanks in advance!

It looks like you're subscribed to Pandora Plus, not Pandora Premium. However, you're triggering a complimentary session of Premium in order to listen to on-demand content, which is why you're seeing ads.

To listen to music without ads, make sure you are listening to one of your collected radio stations vs. trying to play a song or album on demand.

Call me unsophisticated, but I've been paying a subscription to Pandora Plus through my Apple account for a very long time (maybe since the subscription options changed years and years ago), but I'm still hearing ads. 

My apple account and Pandora use two different email addresses, but I'm not sure this should make a difference. How do I get my subscription to actually work and provide ad free music as outlined in the upgrade options. I'm wondering if I should cancel and then resubscribe?

Have you recently upgraded to a Plus subscription?

A closer look at your Pandora account shows that it hasn't been upgraded to a paid subscription of Pandora Plus since January 2022.

Thanks for the reply. I know that through my Apple account I'm being billed. My original Pandora subscription that I originally signed up used a different email than what my Apple subscription uses. Does Pandora recognize the email address used with Apple? How is the subscription validated? I don't believe I ever set up a Pandora account using the Apple account email. If you want to DM me I'll send you the other email.

Are you running into some trouble? Can you tell me more about what's happening. Are you listening on a computer or on a device?

  • If you are on a computer, are you listening from:
    • A Mac or Windows computer?
    • Our website, or the desktop app? If you're listening from the website, what browser are you using?
  • If you are on a device, what is the make and model?
  • Is there an error message? If so, what does it say?
  • Can you send a screenshot of what you're seeing? (If you're not sure how to take a screenshot, just let me know and I'll be happy to provide you with some additional steps.)

This is the most hopeful screen page i have found in all of my clicking-about.

But it is mostly (still) Greek to me.  

I am dreadfully, technologically challenged.

I am going to try shutting everything down, and starting over again...to get rid of these annoying ads.

I have zero idea how i got to this screen.  And how my message actually netted a reply.

I am technologically overwhelmed at this point.

I will poke about tomorrow, and see if my problem has resolved itself.
