Android 14: Two stations / songs play simultaneously

BornandraisedAZ
Local Performer

My Pandora is playing two stations at once. Close the app and it was still playing in the background.

My phone is on software 14 and 6.0

Hi @BornandraisedAZ

Welcome to community!

Sorry to hear this is happening on your Android. I've gone ahead and passed this along to our engineering team for further review and investigation.

In the meantime, can you please confirm the following:

  • Make and model of your Android:
  • Pandora version:

Also, when you say you close the app, are you force closing the app or simple moving it to the background? Does this happen when you start playback on one station or when switching stations?

@BornandraisedAZ Additionally, when you say you close the app, are you force closing the app or simple moving it to the background?

Does this happen when you start playback on one station or when switching stations?

Let me know.

This is happening with the windows PC app for me. Begin playing station A. Station B plays as well. Force close pandora Station A stops playing, station B continues to play for upwards of 2 minutes.

*UPDATE* this seemed to fix itself after awhile. Closed and restarted several times and changed stations.

Same for me too. While I'm playing one station and select another station to play.  Pandora will play both stations at the same time. I have to shut my phone down completely and do a restart in order to get the plane to stop. I have an Android 22S+

Pandora has been doing the same thing on my Galaxy S22 lately. However, only when I am connected to my car Bluetooth. It also is greying out my skip, pause, and thumbs features, despite having premium.

@jesswalker27 To clarify, is this happening with on-demand music, such as when you select a specific song or album to play?

We also have this thread where some users mentioned two stations play simultaneously rather than two songs: Android 14: Two stations play simultaneously

In the meantime, can you please confirm the following:

  • Make and model of your Android:
  • Android version:
  • Pandora version:

Thanks for working with me on this.

@AdamPandora

Sort of, it is happening with both.

I will explain more what happens.

I get into my Chevy Trax and my Galaxy s22 Ultra connects to the bluetooth automatically. I click to shuffle my Pandora stations and it starts as normal. I am initially able to skips songs, like normal. However, after an undetermined amount of skips or time, the whole bottom option (replay, pause, thumbs up/down, and skip) are greyed out and I cannot click them. Then if I click to play another station OR song specifically (from a playlist or searching) it starts to play the 2nd song along with the 1st that I was unable to skip. The pause option is usually then back, however if i click pause or skip, it only pauses the 2nd song. The only way to get it to stop is to close the Pandora app entirely and start over. But then they same thing happens so I have to just not skip or select any songs.

Galaxy s22 ultra

Android version 14

Pandora version 2310.1

I forgot to add that also when I shut the car off and get out, usually the music just stops. Now it stops and within 20 seconds it starts to play again from my phone. However it does not show anything on my phone as playing. So clicking pause on the app or widget does not stop it. I have to reopen and close pandora to get it to shut off.

When the app gets to the end of a Playlist it autoplays new songs which is what I want but it also restarts the Playlist and I get 2 songs at the same time

Why does my pandora play 2 songs at same time. You have to choose it out completely to get it to stop. Or your listening to music while texting when I try to use talk to text music won't spot playing. Or sometimes won't let me hit next song button it won't do anything.. I have all these different issue after I renewed my subscription.  And I was away for like 5 months couldn't use pandora. They should refund me all those payments vuz I couldn't use there service...

Hi Alyssa, it only happened last night, but it happened 3 times (then I gave up). As requested:

Samsung S22
Android version REV1.0
Pandora Version 2401.1
Happened with wi-fi

Hope this helps (and that I got this right).

@BornandraisedAZ I have found this useful tip that has been a help in the past...Perhaps it could be for you as well... I realize not all solutions are the same for everyone... But I figured why not share it if it helped me...

  1. Force Close the App:

    • Make sure you fully close the Pandora app. On most Android devices, you can do this by:
      • Swiping up from the bottom to access the app switcher.
      • Swipe left or right to find the Pandora app.
      • Swipe it off the screen to close it completely.
    • Now reopen the app and check if the issue persists.
  2. Check Your Playback Settings:

    • Sometimes, Pandora might continue playing in the background even after you’ve closed it. To ensure it stops, follow these steps:
      • Open Pandora.
      • Tap the three horizontal lines (menu icon) in the top-left corner.
      • Go to “Settings.”
      • Under “Advanced,” make sure “Background Play” is turned off.
      • Restart the app and see if the problem persists.
  3. Restart Your Phone:

    • Sometimes a good ol’ restart can work wonders. Turn off your phone, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
    • Open Pandora again and check if the issue is resolved.
  4. Check for Updates:

    • Ensure that both your Pandora app and your Android system are up to date.
    • Go to the Google Play Store, search for Pandora, and update the app if needed.
    • Restart the app and test it out.
  5. Contact Pandora Support:

    • If none of the above steps work, reach out to Pandora’s support team. They can provide personalized assistance and further troubleshoot the issue.

Remember, music should be harmonious, not a cacophony of stations! 🎵 If the problem persists, Pandora’s tech wizards will surely help you untangle this musical mix-up. @AlyssaPandora@AdamPandora@TannerPandora@ErickPandora have always been there for me...

Take care and GOD bless...
