Android: Pandora doesn't play on WiFi

cphaenrd

Pandora no longer plays wireless. It worked a few days ago. I've tried Huawei cellphone, Samsung cellphone and tablet. Both of my routers have been reset. Both Century Link at home and Comcast business at Denver Library. It does play on mobile data on. Windows app works wireless.

Problem Found. It was a bad ethernet cable between the NetGear router and
the Century Link router. It did not affect my computers or my laptop which
is used wireless. One for the books.

Thanks for your help.

@cphaenrd To clarify, are you only experiencing this issue with Pandora?

Have you tried streaming other apps such as YouTube?

If not, please try launching the YouTube app and let me know if you experience similar issues there as well.

Thanks for working with me on this.

Thank you for responding.

I took my phone to the Denver Public library which uses Comcast Business
internet. Speed is 60 mbs. both download and upload. It has the same
problem. I can stream music from other sources through my browser
wirelessly. When I try to load Pandora app on YouTube it takes me to Audible
App download. I do not have trouble with Windows Pandora app, wireless on a
laptop. If I use on mobile data, I do not have a problem. One thing to note
is Century Link has converted from wired lines to fiber recently. Radio
Swiss Classic works through SRF app, wireless fine. Also, I tried Pandora
app on Roku stick. Same problem.

The problem is buffering one second then to another song then repeats this
for a few seconds. Ends up with "Sorry I'm unable to retrieve music from
Pandora.com". YouTube works fine. Interactive games work fine. Radio Swiss
Classic works fine through SRF app wireless. Using Chrome on android
devices, I can steam music from web sites. This was not a problem until a
few days ago. Not an android problem as one phone uses an older android
version and Roku fails.

@cphaenrd Just to clairfy, are you experiencing this issue with the Pandora app on your Android phone?

You mentioned using Chrome on Android, however you won't actually be able to stream Pandora through your mobile browser.

Let me know.

What I meant was, I could stream other music that comes through their web
sites on Chrome. I use a streaming app called "Play SRF" (downloaded from
play store) to stream radio Swiss Classic on my cell phones without a
problem. All on wireless.

You tube music app works fine. I'm listening to Hotel California right now.
Last version on my router was in 2018. It does not seem to be anything in my
home as it fails in our public library. I'm using Century link and the
library uses Comcast. It is a mystery that it works ok on data. On a side
note, my hot spot quite on my phone. I've used it connect my tablet. My sons
old PlayStation no longer connects to the internet. There might be some
mystery change going on as wired internet is doing a switch over to fiber.
How can any device outside of my router know the deference between YouTube
music and Pandora unless it is a security update on the internet in place
that is catching Pandora. Data internet does is own thing before connecting
to the internet. Surely someone in my neighborhood uses Pandora and they
would have reported this problem. Meanwhile I am using my laptop to listen
as Microsoft app has no problem. Might take a developer to compare code
between these two apps

@cphaenrd I've enabled a trace on your account to help us better understand what's happening.

For this trace to be useful, we'll need you to run through our troubleshooting steps: Troubleshooting for Android Devices

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

If that does not resolve the issue, can you also expand on what exactly is happening when you attempt to stream the Pandora app from your Android phone while on WiFi?

Does the app not play music at all? Or does it appear that music is playing, however there is no sound?

The more information you can provide, the better I can help.

Also, when this issue occurs:

  • Is the app still open in the background where you're able to press play and resume music or do you need to close and relaunch the app to continue listening?
  • Are you listening to a station, album, playlist, or podcast?
  • If using Wi-Fi, are you able to recover the listening session by toggling Wi-Fi off?
  • Are you using a Bluetooth connection?

Additionally, please provide your device model, Android OS, One UI (if on Samsung), and Pandora app versions:

  • Model:
  • Android version (Settings > About Phone > Android version):
  • One UI version: (Settings > About Phone > Software information):
  • Pandora version (Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Find Pandora):

Thanks for your help!
