I have this same issue when it runs through the Bluetooth in my car and like you I do not have this problem through my earbuds. Unfortunately, Pandora will not restart at all even if I close the app completely and open it up again it won't play at all. So I have to disconnect my Bluetooth and reconnect it or restart my phone for Pandora to play again. It is so frustrating. And just for reference, my vehicle is a 2015 Ford escape with factory stereo. So I definitely think it's Pandora and not an issue with the car or the stereo itself. I have gone through all my settings through Bluetooth, do not disturb, the settings in Pandora and I cannot find a resolution.
Unfortunately, this did not help my situation which is pretty much the same. I have my phone on do not disturb but when I go through my Bluetooth in my car to listen to Pandora and a call comes in it gets rejected but Pandora shuts down and will not restart even if I close the app completely and start again it just won't play. So I have to restart my phone essentially to get it to work again

@KLaw37 I've enabled a trace on your account to help us better understand what's happening.
For this trace to be useful, we'll need you to run through our troubleshooting steps: Troubleshooting for Android Devices
If this does not resolve the issue, can you send over a bit more info about your device?
Does this only happen when connected to bluetooth? If you receive a phone call while not using bluetooth, does the music resume?
Have you identified any other patterns or notable information?
Let me know what you can find out.
there was a change in early January 2025 that I suspect was tied to Android OS updates. I think at the same time I was prompted to use facial recognition in place of a PIN to open the phone.
I work in a noisy environment and use noise canceling blue-tooth earbuds and Pandora. I liked that Pandora got pushed to the background by an incoming phone or web call, and then Pandora automatically returned to the foreground and continued playing music at the end of the voice call. Now Pandora gets pushed to the background by the incoming voice or web call, but after the call Pandora does not come to the foreground and continue to play. I can bring up its screen, and then it begins to play, but not continuing play - rather starting over.
I have done my Internet search, and found many descriptions over recent years that sound similar. I have applied all of the fixes that I have read, clearing cache and data for the app and also Bluetooth, uninstall and re-installing the Pandora app. I suspect this is a new issue, and maybe the action is to wait for the next Pandora update!

Hi @cowen82
Welcome to community!
Thanks for posting your experience, sorry to hear this is happening. I'm happy to pass this along to our engineering team for further review and investigation.
Are there any power saving options on your Moto Power that may be enabled? It's possible that when in the background the OS might be closing the app to conserve power or resources. Each Android device can be slightly different, but these settings could be found under Settings under Apps or Battery. The owners manual for your specific device may yield more specific steps.
In the meantime, I've gone ahead and passed along your info to the appropriate teams. Thanks for being thorough in your post!

Was this ever resolved? I'm having similar issues and have tried all recommended fixes that Pandora said to do.
Hi @burksh
Welcome to community!
This is has been a hard experience to replicate. I'm happy to pass along your information to the engineering team.
Could you please let me know the following:
Do you find that this typically happen with longer calls, shorter calls or both?

I can add to my original post the possibility that this is Bluetooth related - when troubleshooting I kept finding postings that made changes to Bluetooth, such as purging cache, deleting and remaking the Bluetooth connection, and others. I tried those things without success. but I have since noticed that, if I power off my Bluetooth earbuds, the phone remains silent for a period of time - maybe 30 minutes - and then suddenly Pandora starts playing through the phone speaker! I attribute that to a persisting Bluetooth connection for that period of time - once the phone gives up on the connection and sound reverts to the speaker, then Pandora again starts to play. I have not made any changes to my phone or earbuds or Bluetooth for a year or more, and so I am inclined to attribute this to a software update - could be Android, Bluetooth drivers, earbud drivers or Pandora app. I don't have control over any of this, so I chose the patience option - post my problem, and hope that down the road some other driver / software update will come through and fix the problem.
This just started happening to me when I got a new samsung galaxy s25. I have to disconnect bluetooth on my phone and reconnect to get pandora to start again. I have a 2023 mazda cx30. I had no problem with my old galaxy s21.
Please help.
Hi @Imkarenc
Welcome to community!
When connecting to your Mazda are you using the integrated Pandora app found in some vehicles, wireless Android Auto, or just Bluetooth. With just Bluetooth, you start Pandora from your phone, but you can use the basic controls on your car, like skip, pause, play etc.
Thanks for the additional details!

I'm connected by the integrated pandora app from my car. I never had any issues with the galaxy s21 and this new phone worked fine for about a week. I tried android auto but same problem.
Thanks for the follow up, @Imkarenc.
Could you also confirm if the battery optimization settings for Pandora are enabled or disabled. Here are some steps that may help- due to the numerous versions of Android devices, there may be some discrepancy in these steps as it applies to your specific phone.
In the meantime, as I don't believe any troubleshooting steps will resolve this immediately, I've shared your information and experience with our engineering team for further review and investigation.

It was on Optimized.i changed to Unrestricted and I think it worked! I'll see over the next few days. Thanks so much for now!!
I hope that was helpful, @Imkarenc, and I hope you had a lovely weekend. Let me know if you're still having trouble. Crossing my fingers. 🤞

Unfortunately, that did not work. I still have to disconnect and reconnect from bluetooth to restart Pandora.
Thanks for letting me know, @Imkarenc. Is it only with phone calls, or messaging too?

Just phone calls. Not that I message much from the car but on the occasion that I'm the passenger, I've not had a problem.
I think four systems are at play with my problem: Pandora; blue-tooth device drivers; Android handling of applications, and I am thinking Microsoft Teams. I use Bose earbuds - noise cancelling and sound is outstanding, and Costco had a good deal. For years pandora could be playing, an incoming phone call would pause Pandora for the call, and after the call disconnect Pandora would automatically start playing again. Very seamless. I can also double-tap the Bose earbud to toggle pandora between play and pause. Today the double-tap does work to toggle Pandora to pause / play. If I bring up another application - perhaps a news feed - the double-tap on the Bose earbud will still be received by the Pandora app and it will toggle pause / play. But - a phone call or a Teams connection will break that - now Pandora will not respond to the double-tap on the earbud, and it will not resume after a phone call. Even worse, if I disconnect the earbuds, with pandora paused in the background, it will arbitrarily start playing (over the Android phone speaker) at some random time. I was hoping a next release of Pandora app would fix my problem - but it is now at version 2503, up from 2411, and no change. I was thinking this was a problem with the Android operating system, but I am thinking it might, instead, be Teams, which seems to insert itself into every part of the phone - audio, camera, calendar, contacts, Teams seems to get into everything. Not really said in a helpful marketing way, but I like Pandora - the radio station concept works for me - seemed clunky when I first had to get used to it, and took a while to find stations that work for me, but I give it no attention, there is no interruption for spoken messages, it automatically expands the playlist with similar music, and I don't have to listen to my neighbors and background in a noisy environment. I suspect I would have the same problem with competing music apps. For now I will blame Teams.
Hi. I don't believe it's Teams. I'm having the same issue in my phone and I don't have Teams. I've tried everything. I finally found a permission in my phone app and then it was working great until a few days ago when my phone did another update. Now the problem is back and there's no resolve. The initial way I fixed it isn't the problem this time. When I disconnect and reconnect bluetooth after a call, it resumes again but I can't be doing that all the time when I'm driving. So annoying since it used to work flawlessly.
