Hello Pandora listeners! Inspired by my coworker, I've decided to at least try to listen to an album a day. I started two days ago with Igor by Tyler, the Creator, the next day I chose Call Me If You Get Lost, by Tyler, the Creator, and right now I'm listening to the Forever Story by JID. If anyone has any recommendations in the Alt Rap genre I'd greatly appreciate it. In the comments I'll be updating and rating the albums I've listened to thus far.
Igor- 7/10
Idlyam was kinda mid to be honest
CMIYGL- 9/10
Overall an amazing album.
The Forever Story- ?/10
Haven't finished yet, I'm on "Can't Punk Me" right now so I'll comment again one more time after I finish. Chromokopia hype tmrw at 6am whoooooo
Didn't finish the Forever Story because it just didn't hit for me. Listened to Chromakopia throughout all of today, and also just finished listening to Dicaprio 2.
Chromakopia- 10/10
Amazing album I loved it so much
Dicaprio 2- 8.5/10
Would've been a 9 but DJ Drama yapping is so annoying to me. Tune in tmrw afternoon for whatever I decide to listen to next.
Also, I might listen to Die Lit by Carti just to see if I like it.
@Rxnin I'm surprised @ErickPandora and @AdamPandora hasn't responded to this post yet... But be patient they will...
Have a blessed evening take care and GOD bless...
@MOHLovesAlaska me too they usually respond to stuff like that pretty quickly
Hi, @Rxnin. 👋
Nice thread you've started here. I like Tyler the Creator's music.
What about Coloring Book by Chance the Rapper?
I'd also like to recommend Vince Staples by Vince Staples.
Let me know if these fit the genre you like, and I'll see if I can come up with more recs. 🎧
@Rxnin did I forget to mention @AlyssaPandora responding to your thread as well?
Well, there you have it...
Take care and GOD bless...
Much appreciated for the recs and response! I just started Vince Staples and will rate it at the end of the day.
(P.S) listened to die lit thought it was kinda decent but not the greatest
6/10
Screw it I'll go ahead and rate it now. Just finished it and I thought it was really good, but it was way too short. I thought it would take longer to finish but a couple of the songs were only like a minute long. But, overall a great album besides it's length, so I'll give it an 8/10. Because this album was short, I'll try to get in Mm... Food today but I don't know if I'll be able to.
Finished Mm... Food and it was a really good album. The only flaw it has is that Doom really takes the Dr. Doom persona pretty far. The constant weird voice overs weren't my favorite. BUT the songs were amazing. So in total I'll give it a 8/10. Gonna see if I can get to 2014 Forest Hill Drive before I fall asleep but prolly not since I'm a sweepy wittle boy :3 Also, I may not listen to coloring book since chance isn't my favorite tbh
I have to agree the album is on the shorter side. I like the album and didn't have any skips when I played it for the first time. Thanks for taking a listen, @Rxnin. Some albums are like 18+ songs these days. Do you like longer albums?
I mean it really depends on the quality of the music. Vince Staples was an awesome album so I didn't mind it's length because the quality was good. But if it's like NBA Youngboy who cranks out tons of albums but all the songs aren't the best then I prefer shorter ones. A long album full of good songs would obviously be the best, but besides Mm... food I haven't come across an album more than 10-15 songs that are all really good. Didn't get to an album today because I was really busy, but over the course of the day I listened to a lot of Odd Future so I may have accidentally completed the first compilation or whatever it's called. I'll try to get an extra one in tomorrow but school has been really busy recently. On the topic of short albums, this edit is me seeing the length of Skins by X and deciding to listen to it.
I'm gonna go ahead and just rate skins because I took a break for Halloween. It was a really good album even though it was incredibly short. I really like X doing rock. It sounds really raw and emotional. I'll rate it a 6/10 because of its length because I'm considering the fact it was posthumous.
Took a huge break for school lol. So sorry, but there are like 2 ppl who read this thread anyway. Today I'm currently listening to the Book of Spiral by 21 Savage. Trying to change it up a lil. First song is pretty good, I like the horn sounds (or whatever you'd call them). I do like Nudy, but You Ain't Hard is really forgettable. No insane bars or specific flows I really like. Kinda catchy I guess. I do like the way that 21 features artists who don't seem to be very recognized on Down bad. Decent song. And then YSL (free them fr) come on Emergency. Favorite song of this album tbh. Really catchy and is super flowy. Because it was incredibly short, I'm gonna start listening to Sing Me a Lullaby, my Sweet Temptation. Genesis is kinda goofy because I can't tell what song it samples, but I'm pretty sure it's Nintendo. Skipped it. Matte black is a pretty good song. I don't rly like the vocals in the beginning but Ruby with autotune sounds really good to me. **ahem** Your Culture is one of my favorite songs if not my favorite song in the album. Cool beat and they sound really good on this type. Skipped 1000 blunts, idk why I just didn't really like the melody. To happy for anyone in G59 lol. Really like In Constant Sorrow it has an amazing beat that really compliments Scrims voice. And Ruby sounds good because he sounds good on everything tbh. If someone can reply to this and tell me what Escape From Babylon samples I'd really appreciate it. Skipped that because the melody is just too happy lol. Ashes of Luxury was again too happy. Resistance is Useless is an amazing song. One of my favorite suicideboys songs ever. Eulogy was pretty good. Drums sounded very boom bap. NMWDIGI is too happy. Hate to say it. I'm getting tired so I'll go ahead and wrap it up. Total score is a 6/10. Good album with some hidden gems, but it's just too happy for me.
