Ability to Rate Artists / Songs / Albums in Comment Section

I like to rate albums, and I would like to use Pandora.com. I feel like cumulatively radio and the music industry has tried to do away with album rock. I feel like they have attempted this since I was a kid, and they just haven't been able to do it. People like me don't necessarily want a hit every time. We want to hear the collective sound of an album and see how a band explores the sound at that time in their career, and observe the evolution and sonic history of bands through songs and albums.

It would be great if I could do this with Pandora. I would like to know how much and what I've listened to help assist me rating albums. I would like for this to be an something that can be unlocked because I don't care about ratings of people who haven't listened to artists songs and albums.

I think the best place to store this would be under the Now Playing feature, when clicking on a composer/artist/song/album.

It would also be nice if people could make these quick ratings available to the public and have the opinions of veteran raters count for more.

@rellih3 I moved your suggestion to our Feature Requests space as this is no longer a feature of our service. Let's see what others in the community have to say!

It Should be.

I miss listener comments!

One of the most useful tools in discovering new music to listen to is by discussion and debate.

There should be a comments section for every song where listeners can share not only other artist names, song titles and genres but links to those specific pages within Pandora. Having an "Add Link" feature built into the comments section that opens the generic Pandora search box and let's you attach a result to the message would be very helpful in aiding listeners on their journey to finding new tracks.

We need more community and more of a human touch. Right now, using Pandora is a very lonely, personal type of experience. Look at YouTube for example... the comments section on YouTube is often more informative and more entertaining than most of the actual videos people are watching. That would be a wonderful improvement to the Pandora platform.

Each listener should also have a points system that shows how many likes they have or a profile rating based on their contributions in the chat with the ability to check their page and see their favorite/featured content.

Additional hands-on and interactive elements within the Pandora platform would make us feel more connected and a part of something progressive, am I right?

Followup:

The main takeaway here is that there needs to be a way for people to learn about the songs they are hearing in order to find similar tracks.

There are plenty of great features already built in but it's lacking the human element. Lot's of music experts who are passionate about genres and styles are out there and willing to better aid their fellow listeners than simply having us rely on the "100 thumbs down until something similar shows up" method.

Many of the unique or obscure songs we hear are outside of the general/broad placement in the system and starting a station based on something "too" different often leads us down a dead-end and it's disappointing when there are no automatic suggestions that even closely resemble the track, 'Traditional Acoustic Jewish Klezmer' songs, for example - These seem to confuse the algorithm and creating a station based on one of these songs will give you a disturbing mix of electro-punk, Irish cowboy blues and death metal, none of which make any sense in that context.

Having a fellow fan or music critic in the comments section below a track would skip all the hassle. We could simply ask, "Anyone know what genre this is?" and it wouldn't take long before some useful information starts pouring in from all sides.

I'm sure many listeners agree. Let's bump this feature request!

Thanks!

Hey there, @LojaRich. 👋

I moved your post over to an existing feature request to keep the community space organized. We also have a thread where listeners have discussed this option here.

Thanks so much for sharing your feedback, and expanding on your suggestion. 🎶
