Ads won't play while using Roku and Android apps (while casting)

LuGirl4Ever
Local Performer

As the title states, my music will play until an ad is supposed to, and then it'll freeze. The screen says "Advertisement: Your station will be right back" but never actually plays an ad.

This is happening on my android app while casting and on the Roku app itself. Really putting a damper on my Christmas music...

@LuGirl4Ever Sorry to hear about the trouble.

Could you explain what's happening in more detail? The more information you can provide, the better I can help.

Ads do not play on Android app when casting:

When this issue occurs:

  • Is the app still open in the background where you're able to press play and resume music or do you need to close and relaunch the app to continue listening?
  • Are you listening to a station, album, playlist, or podcast?
  • Are you connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data?
    •  If using Wi-Fi, are you able to recover the listening session by toggling Wi-Fi off?

Additionally, please provide your device model, Android OS, One UI (if on Samsung), and Pandora app versions:

  • Model:
  • Android version (Settings > About Phone > Android version):
  • One UI version: (Settings > About Phone > Software information):
  • Pandora version (Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Find Pandora):

Ads don't play on Roku app:

If you're having trouble operating Pandora on your Roku, try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Connect directly with an Ethernet cable rather than using Wi-Fi, if the option is available for your model.
  2. Reboot your modem and router, then restart the Roku player.
  3. Delete the Pandora channel from My Channels, and try adding it again from the Channel Store. (You can find the Remove channel option by pressing the * key on your remote while selecting the Pandora channel on the home screen.)

If this doesn't help, then you can also visit Roku's Support site or contact Roku directly to troubleshoot your specific device and settings.

Let me know how it goes.
