The problem was never if it could be done, the problem is that it WAS done in the past and they killed the app. It should not be difficult to create an applet for this.

I've had the issue with some songs, not every song, so I think that certain files are just corrupted. Happens regardless of browser or version of Windows.

Worth noting that ad revenue isn't a concern with the compact app. It was a premium feature before, but now that they've got mobile ads figured out, both visual and audio, they can make the app available to everyone and support it with ads for non-subscribers.

Throwing my support at this as well. The old app from the Vista/7 days was perfect. My work machine blocks Windows Store apps, and my personal computer doesn't run Windows 10, so I want an alternative.

Windows 10 isn't free anymore. Really disappointed there's no longer a desktop app. Windows Store doesn't count, that's not a desktop app.
