Hey @heety44, thank you so much! Hope you dig the gritty vibes! 🤘
To answer the main question: For us, it absolutely has to be the 1970s. There is so much music dominating the charts today that pulls its direct inspiration straight from that decade.
It was just this massive, undeniable melting pot of sound. We got the tail end of The Beatles, which immediately gave way to an absolute explosion of guitar-driven music. You had the birth of legendary Southern Rock with The Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd writing the blueprint. You had the swampy, working-class grit of CCR and the absolute Texas swagger of ZZ Top.
It was the era of massive, arena-shaking anthems. Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones were practically untouchable, while AC/DC brought that pure, high-voltage energy to the scene. At the exact same time, you had the Eagles perfecting country-rock harmonies, Pink Floyd completely expanding what an album could sound like, and Tom Petty proving that incredible, straight-shooting songwriting always wins.
And let's not forget Disco laying down the foundation for modern pop and dance grooves right alongside all that rock!
There was a raw, unpolished energy, sweat, and swagger to the 70s that directly inspires the rock we make today. You just cannot beat that era! 🔥🎸
