Pandora hangs while starting on my laptop

When starting Pandora for the first time after a reboot, I get the Pandora "P" with several semi-circles swirling around it. It will hang like this presumably forever. 
I close the window in the task bar, then restart it. 
THEN it goes straight to the pandora app. 

1) has anyone else experienced this? If so, what did you do to get it to go straight to the app on the first try?
2) I looked for an update option for the app, from inside of the app. I couldn't find one. Is there a way to check app versions to make sure I have the latest?

Can you tell me more about what's happening?

• Are you listening on s Mac or Windows computer?
• Our website, or the desktop app? If you're listening from the website, what browser are you using?
• Does this happens automatically as you start the computer or just when rebooting?
