Ideas: App for Android Automotive (AAOS/Google Built In)

Pandora seems to have an app for every smart device I have ever bought, except a new car with AAOS (Android Automotive OS).  Please port a tablet version of Pandora for AAOS so that I can use that instead of radio or Spotify (which does have an app).

Good luck with that. When I started my latest Volvo lease, I couldn't find the Pandora app. Turns out Volvo & Pandora aren't terribly friendly. Sounds like the same situation exists with your car.

Hello,

I recently purchased a GM vehicle that does not support Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. I would also like to request that Pandora makes the app available in AAOS otherwise, I may have to cancel my subscription and start using one of the other music platforms that is currently available in AAOS.

I would love to have Pandora in my truck. Shame it is not there!

Please create the app for AAOS. It would be far more convenient to use it natively in the car. I use Pandora far less now because I just don't want to connect my phone when I don't have to otherwise (the benefit of AAOS).

I canceled my subscription that I've head for 15 years because Pandora isn't available on Android Automotive on my new GM truck. I much prefer the stations on Pandora to the way Spotify does it but I can't use Pandora in my truck. Please release a version for Android Automotive and I'll come back.

Agreed.
I am second guessing my two subscriptions as well.

Pandora also has special modes for Android Auto.  I can't see how it would be that hard to support AAOS as well.  It's the main reason I use Android Auto instead of just AAOS in my car.

Last year at this time I posted the following here:

...so it's been 3 years now since they last thought about it.

I suspect there's also some reluctance on the part of SiriusXM to make this a reality as Pandora itself is a competitor to SiriusXM Radio.  They likely make more ad revenue on the SiriusXM Radio side than they do on the Pandora side.  Having Pandora run native on AAOS may eat into that ad revenue, even when Pandora subscription revenue is taken into account.  Money talks...

I have seen data that shows Pandora users have declined steadily over the past several years, after the acquisition by SiriusXM.

"In February 2019, SiriusXM acquired Pandora for $3.5 billion in stock.  In 2021, Pandora had about 55.9 million active monthly users, and 6.4 million subscribers.  As of 2022, Pandora reportedly had fewer than 50 million active users.  As of 2023, there were 46 million users."

They may not see the investment to code and offer the app for AAOS as worth it...they may be trying to kill it over time, so no future investment planned.

Good Point.  I just canceled my XM/ OnStar payment as well and my Pandora subscription.  If they don't give me what I want I will pay them nothing.
