Why can I not add a song "add variety" to a station that I created? It comes up in the search, but just keeps saying that "we're experiencing technical difficulties", even though I added a different song right after.

@moonlitshadow02 What is the name of the song/artist you are unable to add as variety to your station?

Can you please send me a screenshot of the error you are seeing as well?

Thanks for working with me on this. 🤝

I have the same problem:  60s, 70s, and 80s Hits Radio

@marraybay I moved your post over to this existing thread: Can't edit/add variety to genre stations

To clarify, Genre stations, such as "60s, 70s, and 80s Hits Radio" are stations curated by Pandora, and they behave a little bit differently than your own personalized stations. One difference is that you cannot edit or Add Variety to these stations.

For more information, check out the accepted solution to this thread.

Hope this helps explain.

So I had made an 80's pop playlist. The name changed to "**ahem** Over **ahem**" after some loud customers came into my store and literally said it. For whatever reason, I can't change it back which is really annoying.

I do see that station is actually our 80s Pop genre station.

While there was once a bug that allowed users to to edit their genre stations (ex: add additional artist/song seeds or editing the station name), that bug has since been resolved.

At this point, it is no longer possible to edit the name of these stations, or to add variety.

I can add bands or songs to every channel but curated stations... do you have to have a subscription to do this?

I don't have the + add variety on any curated stations

I created a personal Christmas station in 2014. I started with Country Christmas, but added lots of other things over the years. It now plays classical, a cappella, modern instrumental and jazz holiday tunes, in addition to the country genre I started with. (The best thing? It never - EVER - plays "Santa Baby"!) This station is on constantly, wherever I am, during the holidays, and it brings me a lot of peace and joy.

Since I listen at work all day long, I have an annual paid subscription, if that matters. (it shouldn't)

Other stations that I created still allow me to add artists and songs. My "Christmas Radio" station is different. I recently noticed that I can't add variety to this station like I used to be able to do. It only gives me the option to change to an "exclusive curated mode" called "Country Holiday Takeover". This station is my personal creation, and I don't want anyone else's input on it. If Pandora has removed my ability to control it, that was not a decision I would support.

Please tell me how to regain control of my holiday music.

Your "bug" that you "fixed" is one of the things I love, and one of the reasons I pay for Pandora.

If you can, please remove "Country Christmas" from the feed of my station "Sue's Christmas Radio". (A better long time solution would be to give me the ability to do that.)

@Mamasam60 That seed has now been removed from your station.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

The ability to custom add individual songs and add them to my pandora stations is a great option. But I was wondering why I have the ability to do it on some of my stations, and some stations I do not. This issue is on any device I use while signed into pandora. Whether it’s android, auto, iPad. The upper right button is the standard button I use to initiate, but depending on what station it is, the (Add variety) option might not be there.

Any ideas?  Thanks for any help!  Jeff G.

@ChevyPower1 You are likely trying to add variety to genre stations created by Pandora when that option doesn't appear.

So that I can confirm, what are the names of some of the stations you are unable to add variety to?

Let me know.

Hi Adam,

Some of the stations I cannot add variety to are.. Traditional blues, 80’s pop, 90’s country, 70’s light rock. Their are others as well. But some others have the add option.  Pretty sure I initiated these stations rather than Pandora creating them, if memory serves me right.

Thank you for responding.. Jeff G.

I have a 90s R&B Radio collection that is listed as Curated Modes. This station will not allow me to add variety. However, when I go to my Rod Wave Radio collection, it allows me to add variety. There is no modes added to this collection. How can I get this fixed?
