I have this problem too, even though it's been around for several years, and it looks like the Pandora people responding still do not understand what people are complaining about, based on what they keep pointing to as the "accepted solution".
The problem IS NOT generally "my Thumbprint Radio station does not have enough variety."
The problem IS specifically "my Thumbprint Radio station contains several thousand Thumbs Up tracks, but it only ever plays a small [100 or so?] songs out of that list."
I don't mean to get all shouty here, I have just bolded things for emphasis and clarity because it really seems like Pandora is misunderstanding the real problem and pointing us all back to a solution to something else entirely.
It would be great if somebody could look into this, rather than waving it off with the same old non-solution.
Thumbprint Radio plays songs from unwanted/unthumbed stations
Thumbprint Radio plays songs from a station where I have never clicked on Thumbs Up. And when it does so, it typically plays five, ten or more songs from that station in succession. No amount of clicking Thumbs Down seems to cure this.
In my case I have a Classical Music station (based on specific composers) and a Jazz station (based on half a dozen artists). I have never clicked Thumbs Up on either of those stations, because I don't want them in Thumbprint Radio, which I want to be a wide selection of pop, rock, etc. from the many other stations I listen to. And yet, Thumbprint Radio will regularly start playing something from the Jazz or Classical station, and I have to skip through five to ten tracks before it moves off of that station.
[On a related note, there are many hundreds of tracks that I have thumbed up on other stations that never come up on Thumbprint Radio, which seems to be "stuck" on the same 100 or so songs. That seems to be a very long-standing problem for many Pandora users...]

@jzelten I created a new thread for you since it sounds like you are experiencing two separate issues:
I'm happy to escalate your feedback to our engineering team, however I am going to need some additional information from you before I can do so.
To clarify, when you mention your Thumbprint Radio only plays around 100 different songs, does that include the songs from stations you have never given a Thumbs Up ratings to?
Additionally, the next time you feel a poor song recommendation plays on Thumbprint Radio, can you write me back with the following?
Thanks for working with me on this.
