Songs added to playlists do not play on stations

Why is it that whenever I add a song to favorites, it never plays on my station?

When you say "add to favorites" are you referring to giving tracks that play a Thumbs Up?

When I add a song to a playlist, I never hear it on my station.

@myprofile To clarify, custom playlists are separate from your collected stations.

Stations on Pandora Premium are guided by thumb feedback or added seeds, like Pandora and Pandora Plus stations. While listening to a station you can thumb up or down songs from the Now Playing screen to help us learn what to play next.

Playlists, on the other hand, are guided by listener's choice. This means you can add only the songs you want to hear, and sequence the playlist yourself.

If you create a custom playlist where you add specific songs to, those songs will only play on that specific playlist.

Adding songs to playlists will not add them to your collected stations.

So basically even after deleting a custom list, I can no longer hear a favorite song on My Station and there's no way to add it? Does that sound like a benefit for a paid service?

@myprofile While you can add a song as variety to your station, it's not possible to predict exactly which song will play next.

This being said, you are currently upgraded and paying for a Pandora Premium subscription.

With this level of subscription, you do have the option of searching for specific songs, and playing them on demand. You also have the option of creating custom playlists where you can pick and choose the specific songs you want to hear during your listening session.

I recommend trying this out since it sounds like you are looking for a way to listen to specific songs.

I made the mistake of creating a playlist, not knowing that those songs
would never be played on My Station again. This is apparently true even
after deleting the list. Pandora should be more informative about the
consequences.

@myprofile To clarify, playlists and stations do not have any effect over one another.

Adding songs to a playlist will not prevent them from playing on your stations.
