Altho I have faithfully followed the instructions to add variety/new artists to my station, I never hear them. I seem to hear the same 20 or so songs over and over. How do I fix this? As best I can tell this isn't a genre station and the "add variety" button isn't greyed out.
I'm having the same issue as the other people mentioned here. I have these stations that used to play a variety of music and artists and now I'm stuck with repetitions. I have tried going to different modes, like "discovery" but more often than not I'm not hearing anything new. And if I do hear something new and provide a thumbs up, this doesn't seem to carry over whatsoever to "my station". I can only hit "I'm tired of this track" so many times before I become tired of hitting that button. The algorithms don't seem to be working because I've added so much variety to my station but it doesn't make a difference.
I am sure this is going into file 13 - I know Pandora has a huge amount of content and I feel like I get access to a tiny percentage of it. I have stations with 100 thumbed songs where I hear the same tracks over and over again, and where I know that there are lots of other options for Pandora to draw from. I have been a Pandora user literally since it started. I pay. I am wondering if Pandora has decided to throw in the towel. I hope not.

For the most part, no matter the station i am listening to, whichever band plays first or second when i start listening becomes the "featured" band and will play every 5-7 songs. I do not want to hear the same band with this kind of frequency. I have a custom station where i have over 30 bands on there and while listening to the Deep Cuts (which i like by the way) i still get 1 or 2 bands that play every 5-7 songs. Pandora does pull in bands that are not on my list that it thinks i will like and i am good with that but why does "the featured band" seem to happen? It's always been my problem with Pandora. I eventually cut it off because im tired of hearing that band over and over. I realize i can skip but im sitting here at my desk working and keep having to stop work to skip the band. Is there a fix?
@linenul good evening fellow listener, does this occur only on deep cuts? Have you tried to play your stations on the shuffle option? I have over 60 stations and over 40 bands, when I play my stations on shuffle I normally will not hear a repeating band for at least 20 to 25 songs later, but it is a different song when the band does repeat. I would try rebooting your Pandora app and start with the shuffle option for a while, then go back to your deep cuts and see if you notice a difference. Have a great evening, take care and stay safe.
Hey there, thanks for the reply. It happens constantly regardless of how i listen. Of course if i shuffle all my stations then a band will not repeat because of the different genre's of stations. However if I feel like listening to classic rock or my heavy metal stations, yep...every 5-7 songs the same band plays again. Doesnt matter if i use the app or desktop and I have been with Pandora for quite a number of years and have tried about everything I can think of to fix it, which is why im now here in the forums.
@linenul sorry about that, have you tried to see if there is a fix for this in Pandora's troubleshoot page? At the very bottom of this page, you will see the Help option in black. Click on that and you can navigate from there. Take care and stay safe.

I recently canceled my subscription after 15 plus years. Kept playing the same **ahem** over and over. I asked to shuffle/re-cast my account, but to no avail. My username is xx
No one contacted me either to see why I exited the platform. Pretty sad.

@33vine I'd be happy to help with any questions you have, but I will need additional information to do so.
Can you explain your issue a bit further? The more details you're able to provide, the better equipped I'll be to help.
I look forward to hearing back.
CSNY, if I hear the same songs over and over again I delete them if I hear them again they are PERMANENTLY BANNED. The same goes for songs by Bonnie Raitt. It's like this, I'm 71 years old some songs are almost as old as me. If I gave you a list of good songs and a list turn that **ahem** off, would that work?
mod edit: changed title for clarity
Hi there, @elmeRFudd. 👋
Thanks for your feedback around this. I completely understand where you're coming from.
Playing Songs Consecutively from an Album:
Although the majority of the songs in our collection will be eligible to be played without restrictions, you may encounter a similar experience to the one you described in your post. Due to licensing restrictions, one rule prevents us from playing a number of consecutive tracks from the same album.

On-Demand Content + Premium Access:
As a solution, you may consider upgrading to Pandora Premium, which combines our radio service with on-demand listening and allows you to create custom playlists. Premium allows you to find and listen to individual pieces or complete albums without the restrictions noted above. You can also try initiating a complimentary Premium Access session to listen to more songs from a single album.
To start a new session, simply search our library from your computer or mobile device for a song or album, and click play. If you are eligible for a free session of Pandora Premium, clicking play will trigger a short advertisement, after which you can enjoy your on-demand content.
You can find out more about how these free sessions work here: Premium Access
Hope to see you around the community space more often. 🎧
It was never my intention to ask that you play ALL the tracks on one Album. My point was that I was getting TOO MANY OF THE SAME Bonnie Raitt songs, so much so I would drop EVERYTHING AND RUSH to delete a Bonnie Raitt song I had heard far too many times.
I have listed a wide variety of singers and bands so usually I don't hear too much of one band. I have a cousin whose band is on Pandora, The Alternate Routes and they don't get too much.
@elmeRFudd Thanks for following up and clarifying.

I've spent years having to add songs to my collections on my own, because you almost never played any other than the ones I've selected. Tonight I've not seen any favorite play, it's only been "new" songs even if many seem to be the same only "remastered" and the exact same groups I've already added. No surprise, I can't find a control to set a balance.
You wonder why many won't pay, this is only one of a plethora of problems.
Another? The usual: group A leads to B leads to C leads to A, so you're playing the same group every couple of songs. "Great" algorithm.
Pandora is repeating the same song endlessly. How do I get it to play other songs?
Im just seeing your reply, and hopefully you can help
The idea behind a music genome is to hear new music, similar in style to what one likes, plays, etc.. I hear a lot of repetitive music. It’s like the algorithms need tweaked so the same song won’t be played twice In so many given days, let’s say 45. Does that make sense?
Thanks for following up, @33vine.

You may want to try out Pandora Modes specifically - Discovery would be a good option if it is available on your station.

I had a phone conversation with Tim Westergren in the early 2000’s where we brainstormed some of the ideas I had for Pandora. I was blown away that he called me. One idea was “shelving” a song. Others are similar to what Spotify is doing presently. However, shelving songs doesn’t help. I truly would like to speak with someone who writes the code or algorithms. I’ve beta tested in my past, helped Fannie Mae when they rolled out e-fannie Mae back in my finance days, and feel I could help Pandora with CRM. There’s a lot of people who feel the same about Pandora at present. It needs tweaked.
I would like to know the answer as well. I am getting tired of not hearing my various stations.
