Roku: Log-in or unexpected server error

Patty1515
Opening Act

Pandora on Roku keeps wanting me to log in every time I start the app. When I try to use the code to log in I get an error page that says, "Server Error. We're sorry, but there has been an unexpected error with our server. Please try again, or visit the Pandora Home Page." When I use email and password, sometimes it works, sometimes not.  This has only recently started happening. We've been listening to Pandora on Roku for years.

Thanks.

Hi @SomeoneElse and @Azor

Thanks for posting your experiences. I've passed along your info to our engineering team who is investigating.

Thanks for your patience in the meantime.

Thanks for your reply and your interest. The short answer is Yes. I
can access Pandora on my PC, Samsung smart TV, an older iPad, and Apple
iPhone 7+.

My Roku streaming stick model 3810RW is running Pandora 5.5 Build 4.
The stick is running version 11.0.0 Build 4193 which is up to date. The
stick is WIFI only.

I just tried entering a code from the Roku stick onto the Pandora site
and got the dreaded error message. I tried the laborious process of
entering my email and pw. That failed also.

Current status:

I rebooted my modem-router then restarted the Roku, then could not
access Pandora so logged in from the Roku screen and got an 8 character
code.

After getting an 8 character code, then entering my account information
I get this response [see attachment]

this is the message:

Server Error

We're sorry, there has been an unexpected error with our server.

Please try again, or visit the "Pandora Home Page"

Thanks for trying @jochumr. Sorry to hear it didn't work. I've updated our ticket to note that you've tried these steps and are still unable to login, instead receiving an "unexpected error with our server" message.

Thanks for your patience in the meantime.

This is what I get after entering the code from the Roku screen on my
smart TV plus logging in.

I am having trouble linking my image using the "camera graphic" you
mentioned.
Here is the image.
If that does not get through to you, again, here's all it says;

Server Error

We're sorry, there has been an unexpected error with out server.
Please try again, or visit the [Pandora Home Page] [link provided]

Screen shot attached. We have been getting this error for weeks now.

1. We get the code from Roku
2. We go to www.pandora.com/roku and enter the code
3. We click on "already a customer" and are taken to log in
4. We type in Pandora login ID and password and lick enter
5. We get the error message below Agnin and again and again and again

I also tried logging into Roku directly with my Pandora userID and
password, that didn't work either.

I am able to use Pandora on desktop, tablet, phone, Samsung TV, etc, all
without any issues at all. Pandora on Roku was working well for years, with
no issue at all.

This issue popped up a couple of weeks ago and none of your
troubleshooting ideas have resolved it. It isn't resolving itself.

Even tried using a phone not on the same network router to enter the code,
nothing worked. Even tried using the steps to initiate Roku login from the
tabet app, still didn't work.

Nothing you are proposing to do has worked. I have tried everything logical
and illogical.

Time for you to start doing your own troubleshooting on your end

Pandora Roku Login.JPGImage snapshot above. Everyone is getting the same error. Issue far from being resolved and I don't see much effort in addressing. You praying that it will just go away?

Months later, I'm still having this exact same issue (posted earlier in this thread).

Respectfully, this appears to be a Pandora issue, given the amount of users having the same issue.

Can engineering provide a timeline for remediation?

Thanks!

That is correct so now what?

Did as you suggested, the error code was "Try  again with valid activation code"

Did it twice just incase .. same results.

Thanks for reaching out @jochumr. Unfortunately, there are no updates at this time. I know our engineering team is working with Roku to resolve this issue but I don't have additional information on a timeline as to when you can expect to see a fix released.

Thanks for your continued patience.

I have had the same or similar problem since June 2022. Roku works on my computer and android devices, but not on my Roku devices, a 4630X and a 3820X. I only listen to Pandora on my Roku. My error message is exactly: "Unable to automatically sign in. Roku failed to provide required account information. Please log in using email and password." I put in a request to Pandora support and Roku support. They each blame the other company. I had no problem listening to Pandora on Roku prior to May, 2022. So one or both companies made systemUnable to sign inUnable to sign in changes at that time. I've had my Pandora account for years and now I'm paying for a service that doesn't work and I can't talk to Pandora support. Frustrating!!

Hello @TannerPandora  - it's been many months with this issue.  Literally, hundreds of hours of streaming thru Pandora have been lost due to the "We're sorry, there has been an unexpected error with our server".

I don't suppose there is any ETA for remediation?

Thanks!

It's been 3 month now with no solve for my issue. I've been a subscriber for many years and still cannot use my home TV to stream Pandora. Why should I stay and not switch to Spotify? Their app works just fine.
