Roku: Log-in or unexpected server error

Patty1515
Opening Act

Pandora on Roku keeps wanting me to log in every time I start the app. When I try to use the code to log in I get an error page that says, "Server Error. We're sorry, but there has been an unexpected error with our server. Please try again, or visit the Pandora Home Page." When I use email and password, sometimes it works, sometimes not.  This has only recently started happening. We've been listening to Pandora on Roku for years.

Thanks.

Add me to the number of people having this exact problem on my TCL Roku TV.

A few days ago I tried the email login process and it worked and has continued to work.  So skip the Code part and go to the email login although it is more effort to do so.

I tried changing my Pandora password, and that worked using the 'log in with email' option. So that's a workaround we can use until Pandora decides to fix the problem.

On my tcl/Roku tv. My Pandora today started with unexpected error when launching. Checked my internet connection. Restarted my TV. Removed and reinstalled the app. Same result.

I'm having the same problem:

Try to log on. It says, "Unable to automatically sign in. Roku failed to provide required account information. Please log in using email and password." I click "OK," then "Log In." I'm given a code to enter. I try entering it on laptop (www.pandora.com/roku). I type the code in, it takes me to a page that says, "Set up your Roku 4K Stick 2017 to use Pandora. Step 2 of 3." I click on "I have an account." It brings up a login page with my email and password. I click, "Lookup Account" and get the error message, "Server Error. We're sorry, there has been an unexpected error with our server. Please try again, or visit the Pandora Home Page."

Pandora works on all devices except Roku. Roku software is updated. Tried rebooting, removing Pandora and re-adding the channel, etc. No luck. It has not been logging on at all now for a few weeks.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Your experience has been duplicated for months. It appears Pandora has
abandoned that method for login with Roku. I have had better luck with the
more tedious login + password approach.

TomGilbert here: There has not been any change since my 09/01/22 message. And no response from Pandora support. I just tried deleting and reloading Pandora, and then tried logging in . It doesn't work. Nothing works. I can't see any reason I will renew my subscription on 12/20.  What kind of company puts out a broken product and won't have the courtesy to respond to a problem that other paid users are suffering from? And I've been a faithful Pandora customer for many years.

Sorry nothing has worked for you.  I understand how you feel.  I was able to solve my problem with the tedious login process and it has worked for several weeks now.  Since I am not on Pandora Premium, I will stick with it to save money.

I receive "Unexpected error.  An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again." when I attempt to run Pandora. All other apps run fine on this Roku, and Pandora runs fine on my other devices.

Roku and Pandora have current updates applied, and removing / reinstalling Pandora and restarting Roku does not solve the problem.

Roku Express 3930EU, Serial # X00400PR3PX4, Software version 11.5.0 - Build 4235-AE

Pandora version 5.5  build 4

Any help is appreciated.  Thanks!

Finally worked for me, here were my steps that worked after all other attempts and procedures didn't.  Also to note that the problems all began after resetting my modem and router.

1.  Removed Pandora App

2.  Did system restart on Roku

3.  Re-installed Pandora

4.  Login via email address and password on the Roku (not using code).

5.  Logged in like normal.

If you don't hear back from me it means it still is working.

Good luck to all.

Glad it worked out for you. Over the Christmas holidays I stayed at a
motel and brought my Roku with me. The problem was I did not bring the
remote. So I bought their lowest cost streaming stick to keep with my
travel case. I set it up and had no trouble accessing Pandora with it.
So it is the tedious login that seems to get it done.

Hi Richard, thanks for the update. In case this helps you in the future,
the Roku app enables you to use your phone as the remote. Works great!

The Roku app works well if you are at home and have set it up in conjunction with the Roku remote.

If you go to a motel with your Roku streaming stick and forget your Roku remote, it's a different story.  I could not login the stick using the app despite reading many posts.  There might be a way, but I never found it.

So, I sprung for another Roku streaming stick with remote which goes into my CPAP bag which I always take with me traveling.  I don't travel a lot so if there is a way to make the motel and app work out, I probably won't remember it next time I'm at a motel.

Sorry to reply to a post so late, but this is the only post I can see that addresses my issue. For the past several days, my Pandora will not play on any of the 3 Roku Ultra boxes in my house. Initially, the problem was it would begin to play a song, and then the Roku screensaver would come on while the music was still playing, then Pandora would crash when the song ended. But then about an hour later I got this error, and we have not been able to get past it for the past few days: "Unable to automatically sign in. Roku failed to provide required account information. Please log in using email and password." Then when we try to log in using either the Pandora email and password, or using the generated code, it still fails.

To be clear, our Pandora account works perfectly on all our mobile devices, and on all our laptops and desktop computers. It is ONLY the Roku Pandora that is not working.

Troubleshooting we have tried over the past several days that did not resolve the issue:

*Deleting the Pandora app on Roku and reinstalling (tried this a few times)

*Restarting the Roku box (tried this a few times, although we did not to a Roku system restart, only unplugged it, let it sit for a couple minutes, and plug back in)

*Our internet is already plugged in with an ethernet cord on the Roku used most, so that isn't an issue. For the other 2 Roku boxes, connecting via ethernet cord isn't possible. Is there an update issue? What else can we try? I miss my Pandora!!

As added information, our Roku Pandora is Version 5.7 build 2

I had flagged the solution that seemed to work for everyone else so far,
which is to change your password.

Same here.  The app on Samsung and Roku is **ahem**.  Why don't you fix it?  this isn't a one time thing, is an ongoing **ahem** show!

If you haven't tried re-logging in I would suggest that.
