Roku Modes question

weedpeople
Underground

Please explain to all of us why (after all these years and many many requests by customers/users) Pandora still refuses to add modes to the Roku app.

This seems like it would be a trivial thing to do.   A few days worth of effort by your UI software engineer.

Why has this not been done?

Just curious, and thanks in advance for the explanation!

Jeff

Hi @weedpeople

It takes time to progress suggestions through appropriate teams and onto our product development roadmap.

Our product development cycle varies depending on a variety of factors and typically includes an internal planning phase, which helps to explain why new features may not appear as quickly as you would like.

As a reminder, we can’t implement all ideas, even if they are popular requests, and we strive to update idea statuses regularly

While we can’t guarantee that any given idea will be implemented, some of our favorite features have been championed by our community, including I’m Tired of this Track, Dark Mode, and iOS Widgets.

Hope this helps!

H,

Thanks for the reply but I don’t buy it.   Many, many people have been requesting modes on the Roku Pandora app for years and it would be a very minor effort to add this capability, which exists already in other deployment modes/devices.

I live and work in the Silicon Valley so I’m very familiar with the constraints and priorities argument you make, but I also know that it would not be a major engineering effort to add this feature to the Roku Pandora app.   All it takes is for a product manager to give it the green light, a few days of an engineer’s time, and it sure would please a lot of dissatisfied Pandora customers.

Please make it happen!

Jeff
