If my wife is using Sonos to listen to Radio Paradise in our living room, if I am upstairs and start streaming Pandora via Pandora.com on my desktop, it stops Sonos from working. Sonos is streamed using our network, my computer also uses our network but is hard wired into the router. Any idea why this is happening and what the fix is?
Hi @tsinsf
Welcome to community!
Are you trying to listen to the same Pandora account on your Sonos and on your computer at the same time?
If yes, that’s likely the reason you’re running into this issue. You won’t be able to listen to the same Pandora account on multiple devices simultaneously.
Unlike traditional broadcast radio, where everyone hears the same thing at the same time, each device connected to Pandora receives its own unique stream of personalized music. As a result, your subscription to Pandora Plus, Premium, or Premium Family will only cover the cost of one stream to one device (per Pandora account).
Hope this helps to explain!
I thought I made it clear in my original post, that the issue is NOT trying to listen to Pandora on two different devices, but that starting to stream Pandora on my computer knocks out Sonos streaming Radio Paradise.
Hi @tsinsf
Thanks for following up, and sorry for the misunderstanding. I mistakenly thought Radio Paradise was a station on your Pandora account and didn’t realize it was a separate service.
Playing Pandora on your computer shouldn’t affect other apps on your Sonos system, but we can take a few steps to better understand what’s happening. I’ve gone ahead and enabled a trace on your account.
The next step would be to log out of all devices connected to your Pandora account and then log back in. After that, if playback on your Sonos stops again while you’re using Pandora on your computer, please note the time and date so we can take a closer look.
Let me know if you're okay to proceed?
