@nolanriden I moved your post over to this existing thread: Still hearing ads with Pandora Plus

It looks like these advertisements are getting triggered when you attempt to stream on demand content.

Since the ability to stream content on demand is only an option with Pandora Premium, you will first need to watch an ad in order to do so with your Pandora Plus subscription.

For a complete explanation, check out the accepted solution to this thread.

Hope this helps!

@cstolly Upgrading to Pandora Plus still provides an ad-free listening experience when listening to your collected stations.

Pandora Premium was introduced to provide an on-demand listening experience where you can pick and choose specific content you want to listen to.

If you are hearing ads when listening to a radio station, please let me know and I'll be happy to look into it further.

I used to be able to create stations with my pandora plus account.  Is that even possible anymore?   I keep getting prompts to watch a video ad now?

Hi there, @Stella_R. 👋

Thanks so much for posting on the Pandora Community. I'm happy to explain in more detail.

Premium Access Sessions:

I do see that you're subscribed to Pandora Plus. However, you're receiving a prompt to watch an ad because you've activated Premium access which unlocks additional Premium features like on-demand content.

In the past, free listeners and Plus subscribers were only able to look for artists and tracks in order to create radio stations.

  • Now, if you search for and select the name of an artist, track, or album, you'll be brought to a "backstage page" where you can either create a radio station OR press play.
  • If you press play you indicate that you'd like to listen to that content right away (or "on-demand"). Since on-demand listening is a feature for Premium subscribers, you will either see an ad for Premium, or be prompted to watch a video ad to unlock Premium access.
  • Keep in mind that upgrading to Premium or accepting Premium access is completely optional; you can close the ad and we'll create a station for you to listen to instead (if one is available).

Should you decide to view the video ad and accept Premium access, rest assured that you won't be billed an additional amount for Premium; because the additional cost of these sessions is covered by the advertisement, your account will return to your Plus subscription.

You can find out more about how these sessions work here: Premium Access

Creating a Station:

Looks like you may be using your iPhone device to stream Pandora. The best way to explore Pandora and create a station (or to listen to any type of content) is to search our library and further filter your results.

Begin by launching the Pandora application and tapping the search icon (shaped like a magnifying glass) in the top right corner of your screen. Enter the desired search term, and filter your results by Artist, Songs, Stations, Podcasts, Playlists, or Albums.

When searching for:

  • an artist, tap the artist's name in your search results which will bring you to a page where you can view and play their radio station, Latest Releases, or Top Songs and Albums.*
  • a song, tap the song's name in your search results which will bring you to a page where you can play the song, share the song, or start a station.*
  • a station or genre, tap the name of the correct search result which will bring you to a page where you can collect, play, or share that station.

You can also use For You to view personalized station recommendations which can be found next to My Collection.

*Pandora Premium listeners may have additional options. Free and Pandora Plus listeners will need to watch a short advertisement before they are able to listen to songs, albums or playlists on-demand.

Thank you for your quick response - The way I understand your explanation, it requires a PREMIUM plan to create a station AND listen to that station ad-free.   With PLUS, I will need to listen to ads on stations that I create.  Is this correct?

Thanks,

Stella

Hi @Stella_R! Sorry for any confusion.

You'll be able to create a station as a free, Plus or Premium subscriber. As a Plus subscriber you can listen to your stations with an ad free experience.

However, we give the option to free and Plus users to try Premium features, by accessing what we call Premium Sessions. In the past, free listeners and Plus subscribers were only able to look for artists and tracks in order to create stations.

Now if you search for a specific track or album to play, you'll be given the option to watch an ad, OR create a station.

If you watch an ad, you indicate that you'd like to listen to that content right away, or on-demand. Since on-demand listening is only a feature of Premium, you'll be prompted to watch an ad to unlock your session.

I've included a screenshot below that may be helpful.

Hi @Stella_R!

What happens if you press, 'No Thanks'. Does it take you back to the content you were viewing or start a station?

Hi @Stella_R! Thanks for sending over those pictures.

You are receiving the correct messaging, it's possible that the content you're trying to listen is not available for on-demanding listening.

In cases like this, I would select the button that says 'Start Station' versus the Play button. It should start a station based on the track you're selecting rather than playing the track. You'll avoid the ad as well.

Can't listen to the album for which i took Plus, The Aristocrats. So i switched off my subs to listen with ads as it was before paying for plus.

@viky_pat I'd be happy to help with any questions you have, but I will need additional information to do so.

Can you explain your issue a bit further?

Are you unable to watch an ad to start a Premium Access session so that you can listen to an album on demand?

The more details you're able to provide, the better equipped I'll be to help.

I look forward to hearing back.

Hi Adam,

Thanks for replying.

So i wanted to listen to "The Aristocrats" songs. Without Pandora Plus, i was getting an ad to listen songs of their albums (only one ad initially), so i took Pandora Plus membership. But still i have to listen to ad to listen to their albums.

With Pandora Plus, i am not getting ads for all songs just this album.

Same! It’s came out of my bank acct since last October but I’m havin to watch ads like you I have plus!!!

I’ve had pandora plus quite a few years now. It ran out last year and I renewed it. So WHY do I have to watch ads to play music! Also note is has been taking it out of my account EVEY month since last October I believe n THAT money is much needed. I’m not paying anymore for a service I don’t receive.     I have tried turning off artist msg toggle also signed out to sign back in and guess what??? My entire library disappeared!!!!!!!! 😡 Big Mad Now

@Havannah_honey It looks like your Pandora Premium subscription has expired, which is why your Premium content disappeared.

I then see you recently upgraded to Pandora Plus instead of resubscribing to Pandora Premium.

The ability to access your on-demand content is only possible when your account is upgraded to Pandora Premium.

To resubscribe to Pandora Premium, you can go to this page.

Hope this helps clarify.
