I haven’t been able to use Pandora for a few months due to it constantly buffering. I searched through your help forums and tried all advice: toggled cellular data off and on, cleared the cache, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, logged out and in again. I prefer Pandora, but I’ve been using Spotify instead because I can’t fix this issue. I have an iphone 6s plus.

Hi all.. I have an iPhone 7 and a few days go my Pandora went into a constant buffering mode. I have deleted the app and reinstalled along with rebooting my phone several times in different combinations. I have also updated my phone to the new IOS but nothing. Any suggestions??

Hi, I'm also having buffering issues. This has been going on for months now, but it has gotten worse in the last few weeks. I've tried restarting my iPhone and also removed and re-downloaded the Pandora app. 

Here's my info, if it helps:

  • Device & Generation: iPhone SE
  • Carrier: Verizon
  • iOS version: 15.3.1
  • Pandora version: 2201.1
  • Have you identified any other patterns or notable information? Yes. When this is happening I also have a difficult time scrolling through my station list, podcast episodes, or on the Settings menu. The biggest issue is that I keep getting pauses in the middle of my songs or podcasts. This is happening right now. This happens whether I'm on Wifi or data, and it's happened in several different wifi locations.
  • Do any other error messages pop up? None, and the Buffering message doesn't always pop up. Sometimes this happens and Pandora looks like everything's normal.

I really, really appreciate any help you can provide. My husband uses Spotify, but I've always preferred Pandora. I hope this issue can be fixed soon.

Sorry to hear that you're encountering buffering issues while listening to podcasts or going through your station lists. 

Thank you for taking the time to report this and provide your information. I've shared this information with our engineering team on your behalf on an internal ticket we have open.

In the meantime, we have new Pandora app update release today. I would recommend updating to 2202.1.

To update the Pandora app on your iOS device on iOS 13 or newer:

  1. Open the App Store application.
  2. Tap your Apple ID icon in the top right corner.
  3. Scroll down to the Pandora app. If an update is available, there will be an Update icon.

Tip: If no update is available, it will say Open to the right of the Pandora icon. 🎧

I went to listen to Pandora for the last two days. It will not play on either one of my IOS devices. I have deleted the app, restarted my phone, and nothing has worked to get it working.

I check the wife and everything was fIne. I even restarted the Wi-Fi box. The app comes up and it just does nothing.  It may say buffering after i re start the phone, but yet again nothing Please help, I need my music. It is therapy. The devices are an IPad, and IPhone.

It sounds like you've run through network troubleshooting as well as the standard steps: iOS Troubleshooting

I would like to report this issue to our engineers. Could you tell me more about your device?

  • Device & Generation: (e.g. iPhone X, iPad Air (3rd gen), etc.)
  • Carrier:
  • iOS version: (Settings > General > About > Version)
  • Pandora version: (Pandora > Profile tab > Settings gear & scroll to the bottom of the screen)
  • Are you connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data when this is happening?
  • Have you identified any other patterns or notable information? Are there any other error messages (besides buffering)?

Same buffering problems....

A lot of "Gee I'm sorry, I'll send to our engineering "....but no suggestions or solutions.....

 

And Please Pandora, dontr eply with your standard "cut and Paste" response...

I too am super frustrated with canned responses and lack of solutions. Feeling very ‘swept under the rug.’ You have to do better than this, Pandora…

Please note, the information requested by any moderator for a bug / issue is shared directly with our engineering team on an internal ticket so that we can accurately report your experience over to them. The information requested in my responses is helpful for our engineering team investigating Pandora issues on iOS devices.

At this time, the only suggestion I have for this issue is running through the standard iOS troubleshooting steps of shutting down your device and then uninstalling / reinstalling. You can find those steps here: iOS Troubleshooting

If you've run through the troubleshooting steps, feel free to share your device details so that we can pass this along on your behalf.

@Whaleboat17 just some information you should pay attention to. Most buffering issues are from your internet service provider. How do I know that you may wonder, because your internet service provider provides a booster signal box for wi-fi. It is an extra charge, but they can and will help you if you ask. I have not had any buffering issues in nearly a year now. So not every buffering issue is Pandora's or any other store apps fault. Look into your local service provider to see what they can offer you for a better signal. 

 

P.S. When reaching to get someone's help for the issue you're having, a little appreciation and kindness can go a long way. Just a little friendly advice. Take care, and stay safe.

I agree that kindness is important. In my case, the buffering happens on both WI-FI and cell. Since they’re different providers (and technology) I don’t think your solution will work for me. Thank you for the suggestion, though!

@Julzdawn have you tried closing some of your background apps down? When I was experiencing buffer issues that is what I had done and although it did not completely solve the issue it sure did help it. Just a thought. Well, I do hope your buffering problem gets resolved because I know how frustrating it is.

@Julzdawn and as far as problems with your cell phone, well, I have not had a cell phone going on 14 wonderful years. So I can not help you there. But I do have a laptop computer as well as an android tablet. Most of my music listening is offline.
