iOS: Unable to use player controls

What do I do? I can’t play or rewind to previous track without opening the app

Can you tell me a bit more about what is happening?

1. Are the buttons unresponsive on the lock screen?
2. Is the music randomly stopping and when you try to play your music again you need to go back to the app so you can get it to work again?
3. Are you having trouble seeing the notification widget for your music?
