Nearby Devices is selected on my S22+. As before with my S9+, I can play on my Pioneer radio with the Bluetooth app but not with the Pandora app on the radio. I can't even roll back the Pandora software to an earlier version and get connected. I've jumped through all the hoops and it still doesn't work for me.

On the android issue, I recently updated from an S9+ to a new S22+ and nothing changed in regards to Pandora. It's over.

It's quite obvious now that Pandora support for the radio app is history. It seems to me that TannerPandora would post a sticky comment alerting users to that and close this conversation.

Spotify publicly acknowledged earlier this year they would no longer support the car radio apps so it seems Pandora would do the same and at least put this conversation to rest. And it seems Pandora is now pushing the hands off, voice command functions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is a voice command function built into the Pandora app that everyone is discussing in this conversation.

It' s time for Pandora to publicly admit that support for the Pandora car radio utilities is over and close this thread.

You hit the nail on the head. Pandora has obviously dropped support of the radio apps in favor of CarPlay which my Pioneer unit does not support. I almost bought a new $430 Pioneer unit but passed. I'll settle for Pandora and the Bluetooth app since I don't drive that much nowadays. It's still worth the monthly subscription fee to avoid the commercials and I use Pandora on my bedroom internet radio. I wonder how long that support will last??

Version 2210.2 was released Oct 18. Elsewhere in this thread, I posted a link about Spotify dropping support for car radios earlier this year. Its now apparent Pandora has done the same. On my Pioneer unit, Pandora and Spotify are the only choices so, what are we going to move on to? I dont know if voice command for the Pandora app is brand new, but it seems to me that Pandora has made it available to replace their support for car radios. I tried it and it does not seem to work well at all. Below is an excerpt from the "about this app' posted along with the latest Pandora update. "Take Pandora with you wherever you go with Android Auto for your daily commute or your next road trip. Enjoy your own personalized music or podcast experience from anywhere on the world’s most powerful music discovery platform. The new voice mode lets you search, play, pause, skip adjust volume & thumb up music with a simple voice command. Start streaming your favorite artist, song, genre, or podcast instantly today for free in your car." The writing is on the wall. No More Radio Support. Its time Pandora published a press release.

SiriusXM purchased Pandora in 2018. Last year, SiriusXM was begging for subscribers with greatly reduced rates as users such as myself were jumping ship in favor of the Pandora app for music in their cars. It makes perfect sense to me that the update needed to restore functionality to the Pandora app has been abandoned as a move to push new subscribers to Sirius and to entice old subscribers to return to Sirius. I maintained my subscription to Sirius for 2 years after buying my Pioneer unit with Pandora compatibility and Bluetooth even though I no longer used Sirius. I decided last year it just made no sense to continue paying for a subscription to something I wasn't using. I'll use the Bluetooth option to play my Pandora before I go back to SiriusXM. Long story short, in my opinion, Pandora has abandoned support for car radios.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I've followed those crucial steps to no avail. No previous Pandora versions will work with my 4-year-old Pioneer unit.

Given that I was able to use an older version of Pandora a couple of years ago when this same thing happened, it's safe to assume that now, my Pioneer unit may no longer support Pandora most likely because of a built-in life to the utility. I've said it before in other posts, approximately 2 weeks before this, my Pandora was having problems connecting and I would have to delete my Pioneer from my phone's Bluetooth, then pair them and then I was good for the day. Next day, same thing and then, at a point I could no longer connect them and as I've stated ad nauseum, older Pandora versions will not work, now. BTW, my Samsung Galaxy S9+ is now 4 years old running Android V10. I understand it will not receive any further support from Samsung and that V13 is now current. Honestly, I think my problem is twofold, expired Pandora utility on my Pioneer and Pandora is not fixing the general connectivity issue with their software updates as evidenced by so many others who cannot run the updated version and make the connection. The newest Pandora update claims to work with Android V10. I wish some other Pioneer users would chime in and state the age of their units and the status of their efforts to connect. And again, what say you, Pandora support??????????????????????

You've touched on a couple of issues that relate to my situation. One, I own a 4-year-old Pioneer unit that will not connect even with older versions of Pandora. I contend there is a limited shelf life to the utilities included on those units as a means to drive sales of new head units when the utilities begin to fail. There has only been one firmware update on it and that was to fix an iPod issue so there is little to no support from Pioneer after the sale. The unit also no longer connects to Spotify. You also mentioned a financial incentive for not updating and repairing the Pandora app. SiriusXM purchased Pandora a couple of years ago and so possibly to push new subscriptions to the failing Sirius service, they've removed some of the features of the Pandora app? I declined to renew my annual subscription to Sirius last year because the Pandora app offered me so much more for less price. I'll be dammed if I return to Sirius because I just don't drive that much these days. I'll use the Bluetooth feature and be happy. Perhaps TannerPandora can reach out to the staff at Pandora for an official statement as to what is in the future for this app. This issue should have been fixed weeks ago if they intend to fix it at all.

It's time for a Pandora rep to give a heads up on what they are planning to do with this issue and how much longer this will persist. This just ain't right.

RJF51, that begs the question why my Samsung S9+ running Android 10 will not connect no matter what Pandora software version I install? Both my phone and my Pioneer unit are 4 years old.

It could be there is built-in shelf life to the Pandora utility on those radiIos and I now suspect the same for Spotify which I now notice is having the same issue with connection. I bought my Pioneer unit 4 years ago come January and I cannot get any of the previous software versions to play on it. And it had been really buggy for several weeks before the current situation. If that turns out to be the case, I guess I'll buy a new unit when the new models hit the market as I was looking anyway.
Any hackers out there who can override this shelf life issue if that is the case?

The only way a firmware update would get on my Pioneer is if I installed it from a thumb drive and I haven't. It makes no sense that my unit won't work with an old Pandora software version while some others will. A couple of weeks before this issue began, I had to reconnect my Bluetooth on numerous occasions during a two-week period because the "could not connect" message popped up when first starting the car. After reconnecting Bluetooth, the Pandora utility would play. THEN, one day, the connection failed altogether and for a few days I searched the Internets for a current solution to this issue. The only info I found was from a previous incidence with this about two years ago. Fortunately a search a day or two later found this discussion. And after many weeks Pandora still hasn't resolved this and what was a successful workaround for me the last time this issue happened will not, now work for my Pioneer unit. It really makes no sense this workaround works for some and not for myself and some others. I am going to search for a firmware update to my Pioneer unit tomorrow and install it and try the old Pandora software version once again. Edited update: The ONLY firmware update for my Pioneer unit is from 2018 pertaining to iPod issues and I disregarded it at the time because I use a Samsung phone so, NO firmware updates are affecting this issue with Pandora connectivity.

Pandora needs to fix this software issue. I have posted at least twice that I have blocked new updates, deleted the current version, installed past updates including every software version that people say works. There is a myriad of radio brands that have the Pandora utility including my Pioneer unit I've owned for 4 years. None of that works for me. and I have been through the process numerous times. It is working for some guys and some say it does not work for them. I'm curious what brand of radios the guys own who are not getting results. This issue popped up about 2 years ago and the method of installing an old software version worked just fine and when the updated patch was available, it was announced here and I installed it. This mess should have been addressed weeks ago. Pandora now officially **ahem**
