I've resolved this issue by no longer using the desktop app. I bought a stereo to put by my desk so I can stream music from my phone using the mobile app. Kinda crappy I was forced to go this route, but the desktop app was janky in a lot of ways and I have no reason to go back to it now.

I tested issue 2 again and it's still present and repeatable. I made a new playlist in the Android app by adding an album. Then I added a second album to the playlist. Then I deleted all the tracks from the first album from the playlist. Then I played the playlist, and it loaded into the player with tracks from both albums present - all the deleted tracks were there and started playing. Edit: Some more detail on this: while playlists that I create on the mobile app on my phone are immediately available on the other platforms, the songs I deleted from the playlist on my phone are not deleted in the other locations. The two-album playlist I made, and then deleted all the tracks from the first album, exits in the desktop app with both albums' tracks. This behavior is inconsistent from one playlist to the next - other playlists, when I delete a track on my phone, the change is immediately reflected in the desktop app.

I've completed the troubleshooting steps - everything but lowering the data rate, as it doesn't seem relevant. The mixed-up new playlist issue persists. My new phone is a Google Pixel 9 Pro, Android v15, Pandora v2411.1.3

Both of the issues seem to be specific to the Android app. I verified that the mixed-up new-playlist issue (Issue 1) only happens on the Android app - it does not happen using Chrome browser on my phone or PC, and it does not happen on the desktop app. The old-playlist-version issue (Issue 2) I think is only an Android app issue, but I cannot verify that now, because fixing the playlist on the desktop app fixed that particular playlist on my phone - I'd have to hunt around to determine if there's another playlist that exhibits this issue to test it. In testing Issue 1 on various platforms, I noticed that changes in one location promptly propagate to the other the other locations, except when the change is syncing from somewhere else to my phone (i.e. to the Android mobile app). Changes made on my phone are immediately seen elsewhere, but changes made elsewhere do not update onto my phone until some 'event' occurs that seems to force a sync to occur. e.g. on my phone I was seeing a bunch of playlists that I had already deleted elsewhere, and it wasn't until I created a new playlist on my phone that the deleted playlists finally disappeared off of my phone. Issue 1 was originally observed and reported on my old phone, which was a Pixel 3. I've since upgraded to new Pixel 9 Pro, and the issue remains. I tried logging out and back in again, and Issue 1 remains, as does the issue of changes made elsewhere updating to my phone.

Ok, but the recent post was a different issue. It just happens to also show the the first issue as well. Issue 1 is tracks go into a playlist out of order when creating a new playlist from an entire album. Issue 2 is that revisions to playlists aren't syncing or something, and when playing a playlist it loads an older version of the list into the player.

I have a Playlist that's been edited, and when I click Play on the playlist, the playlist loads into the 'now playing' list as an older version of the playlist.
The attached screenshots illustrate this, as well as another issue... the reason the playlist was edited was because of the other issue, which is when adding an entire album to a new playlist, the tracks go into the playlist all out of order. The workaround is to create the playlist with dummy tracks, then add the album you want, and then delete the dummy tracks. In my case, the dummy tracks were an album that went in all out-of-order, and I've deleted those tracks off of the list, leaving only the in-order tracks on the playlist. When I play the playlist, though, it loads in the version that has the out-of-order tracks still there at the beginning of the playlist.
The last screenshot illustrates the disconnect between the playlist and what gets loaded into 'now playing' - you can see that "Prove to You" is the song currently playing in the player, while the playlist shows "Family System" as the actively playing track - they're both the 12th song in their respective 'list'.
I loaded up the desktop app, and it still had the old version of my playlist. I re-edited the playlist there to remove the duplicate tracks, and that seems to have fixed the issue on my phone... which is weird. Is the state of my playlists somehow tied to my installation of the desktop app? I created this Playlist in the mobile app. I feel like the issue is that changes made in the mobile app aren't syncing to the 'cloud' correctly - I've edited playlists only to have the playlist revert back to an older state before.
The playlist ...when played. Disconnect in what is currently playing between playlist and player.

@JessicaJane525, lol. I agree. I feel like Pandora needs to can their entire software division from the director on down and start fresh. It's such a great platform, so poorly executed. The most egregious example is the gap of silence that is inserted between songs when listening to an album. Songs that should flow seamlessly from one into the next are starkly interrupted. I know Amazon and Spotify both do this correctly, but the Pandora complaint on the matter has been open for YEARS and no change. That's going to be what sends me a packing.

It popped up when I opened the app today, but I accidentally backed out of it before I was done reviewing it and now I can't find it. It was not emailed to me.

I only just today encountered an automatically created playlist from thumbed up songs on a station, and I thought it was a new feature. I browsed my profile settings and the station settings and didn't see a way to disable it, so I came here only to find this post from 5 years ago?! I hate, with a passion, and I use the term hate sparingly, presumptuous automated actions that can't be disabled. Get a clue! This one is pretty bad. Like I'd want a freaking playlist made for every **ahem** station I listen to? Also, it appears that if you remove a thumb from a song, that song is not removed from the playlist, so, it's inherently prone to errors. Rather than force automatic features on us, you should be fixing things that are broke. The desktop app is miles behind the mobile app (no warning about duplicate song additions to a playlist, can't consistently play long songs without randomly restarting them), and the gap of silence between tracks on an album is irritating AF.

I'm about to follow suit with those who have solved this issue by switching to Spotify. And I'm not talking about the crossfade feature request, I'm talking about the issue of there being a gap of silence between tracks when listening to an album. Fixing that is not a feature request, it's a glaring deficiency that needs to be fixed. Is there any progress to report? Any hope at all of it getting fixed some time yet this decade?

@TacoTodd - in the mobile app you have to SWIPE - touch, hold, and drag the song to the left to reveal the delete button. You're tapping on the ellipse menu, and the delete option isn't in that menu. And you have to be in the Playlist view, not the Now Playing view - they'll both be a list of the songs in the playlist, but you have to be in the playlist itself to edit it.

@TannerPandora, the Idea you linked is a post that combines (conflates) gapless transitions and a crossfade feature request. While the latter is a feature that I couldn't care less about, the former is what I'd consider a flaw in the product that needs to be fixed, regardless of how many votes that "idea" post gets. I, like the OP here, find the gap extremely irritating when listening to albums as a whole.

When choosing an album to listen to on my walk, I would like to see the total album duration. Displaying individual song durations when viewing an album (without having to click into each song) would be nice as well. (Android mobile app user)

I feel that cross fade is a feature request, while gapless song transitions is something that just has to be true. I could not care less about the former, but the latter is a real annoying issue that just needs to be fixed pronto.

I discovered in the Android app if you add an entire album to a playlist and create a new playlist as part of that operation, the songs go in all mixed up out of order. Only by adding the album to an existing playlist will they go in in the right order. The attached screenshots show an album going into a new playlist out of order.

The swipe function is from the playlist view - you drag the song to the left revealing a delete button at the right. Or follow Alyssa's directions for editing the playlist.

At the very least, when you click the option to "Go to playlist" it should take you to where that song is on the playlist.
