In my experience, simple Bass and Treble just make things worse. We deserve a tool like a 10 band EQ that would be up to the sophistication of the musical DNA algorithm. Pete

I think that iOS doesn’t allow for inter-app EQ. Pandora should build a 7 to 11 band EQ right into the app. PD

Please start another thread….. your concern is warranted and this thread talks about EQ. Two totally separate issues.

I’ve had Pandora for over a decade and it’s well pst time for $4.95 to mean more than no commercials. Wasn’t speaking for you. By paying ANYTHING better sound quality should be a guarantee. I feel like a captive because hours of streaming with the genome is the best I’ve seen.

I’m a pig, I guess. I’m entitled to both the genome and great sound. And not at a premium, either.

Why haven’t these requests been acted upon? There are no applications that I can find for IOS that will take Pandora as input and EQ the music from Pandora and output that to either the iOS device speakers or Bluetooth attached devices. Pandora keeps saying that 1) there are apps that will EQ anything on your device - that’s a lie — and 2) upvote a product improvement request and wait for a response. These requests have existed for YEARS and nothing has happened. I pay for this service. A useable EQ is a must.

I get that…. You make a good point… Having said that my take on this, only my opinion, is that the extra bandwidth would be minimal. After eliminating commercials at about $5 it would be very hard to justify another $5.99 for better sound for me. Subscriptions have already become onerous and I don’t want to pile on even more expense. But they will charge what the market will bear and I may be an outlier in this respect.

When I pay for elimination of commercials I should also get higher quality audio. By paying at all I feel that is a major vote of confidence and commitment to a service I can get for free, albeit with commercials. I shouldn’t have to pay for quality a la cart or have to go to the level that offers other “features” I don’t want or need, like playlists. Pete D.

There are already three tiers of subscription and I feel better audio should be one of the basic upgrade benefits, along with eliminating ads. It should not in any way be considered a “premium” benefit where one pays the most expensive subscription price to receive better sound. IMHO the basic concept of the Genome based system is the semi random nature of delivery. I liken it to having my own personal DJ who makes decisions on the fly to give me a personalized, ever changing open ended experience. I personally don’t care for “curated” content. Quality sound should be assumed to be a basic, cornerstone feature of the product. In this context the playlists, repeat functions and other manipulations of the delivery of music should be considered “extra” and “premium”.

I wish that Pandora would just understand that lossless audio should be the baseline product, especially for the paid service. Their suggestion engine is absolutely the best but we all deserve a better listening experience. Pete D.

The major downside to almost every streaming solution is degradation of sound quality in favor of stable streaming transmission efficiency and massive storage capacity. That’s how streaming became practical. Streaming capabilities have progressed by orders of magnitude since Napster. The ability to transmit lossless files should not be the exception anymore. It should not be a paid premium “feature” either but since I’m paying I feel I deserve better sound quality than I’m getting now. I also deserve the ability to tailor the sound with a real 7 to 11 band EQ. We are no longer talking major technical or hardware feats. The low-mid-high tone “adjustments” in my car are laughable. The placement of my Bluetooth speaker in my bathroom is too boomy. Yes, send a perfect representation of the sound to me and then let me customize it. This is an extension of why I use Pandora and not other services. Your suggestion algorithms are fantastic - and they are a great platform that I use for customization when I create my own “lunk headed rock”, “My R&B” stations and others. I don’t like “curation”. I don’t use any pre-set Pandora stations. I don’t want EQ pre sets I want a fully functional 7 or 11 band EQ and lossless files.

Bluetooth speakers and earphones react very differently to the sound that is put into them. Pandora not altering the original creates the baseline. One would always have the choice to not add EQ. A 7 or 11 band EQ would be great. Just a bass booster or Bass-Mid-Treble three band eq would just be window dressing.
