I was never really able to find a solution to this problem. Even using the Deep Cuts and Discovery settings on Pandora resulted in many repeats of the same bands over and over. For now, I've tried a free streaming service called Jango, which seems to have a really awesome algorithm for music discovery (including in Shuffle mode). It also allows for high quality streaming without having to subscribe. The downside is that it doesn't have the expansive music library that Pandora does. Thus far, I haven't been able to find any service that matches Pandora's extensive music library. I hope that one day Pandora's music selection algorithm can be corrected (back to how it used to be) so that one can discover great music.

I agree. There are so many radio station groups and rap noise stars I'd love to block!

Pandora One used to give me 192 kHz audio. What happened?
Audio used to sound better on my Pandora One subscription. It seems like when the Premium option was added, the One subscription audio quality was lowered. The quality on IOS is terrible. Higher quality audio is checked under settings.
Also, why are rap stations being created on my account without my consent? I don't want to hear rap **ahem**. I want more Indie Rock!

I've noticed Pandora has recently gotten much better with music selection. I'm actually discovering new artists again. It seemed like there was a stale streak for quite a while with tons of repeats and artists being selected solely on what has been added to seeds. Now things seem better. I'm not sure if they changed the algorithm. If so, please leave things the way they are.

I agree! I would really like to block Tool, A Perfect Circle, Breaking Benjamin, Reliant K, Metallica, Green Day, Offspring, Soundgarden and many others. If nothing else, a "Block Tool" option would be nice! The "Block Tool" option should be the easiest to find, most accessible feature!

I've tried switching between offline and online modes and haven't been able to reproduce the issue. The problem hasn't reoccurred since. I can report back if happens again in an environment where I'm going in and out of cell reception as was the case before. Thanks

I apologize for the rudeness of my original post. I realize that Pandora didn't do this on purpose. I will send a screen shot if I'm able to recreate the issue.

Adam, it was not. I didn't receive any push notifications from pandora. I was out in the woods and pandora was switching to offline and online modes as I was going in and out of reception. Every time I got data service again, Drake would be added and it would start playing. I kept deleting the station but it would come back and automatically play again. It seems like a glitch rather than an unauthorized user. But I'm not sure.

Today I was mountain biking and going in and out of cell reception. Every time reception was restored I would hear some very unappealing rap / hip hop noise and noticed "Drake radio" was added to my station list. I kept deleting the god awful garbage but it kept being re-added. I have not sold or lent any internet enabled devices to anyone and don't share any of my devices. Please advise as to why this is happening.

Things are sounding much better recently. I've discovered some cool bands on Pandora lately.

Adam, the problem is Shuffle will only exclusively play songs from artists that are already in my artist and song seeds on my stations. It no longer introduces you to other artists of similar style. I have gone through all 100 or so of my stations, deleted a bunch of thumbs up and changed the artist and song seeds on all of them - a daunting and tedious task. However, no matter how much I change my seeds or turn stations on and off in the custom shuffle feature, the new format is still just plays artists added as seeds. There is no longer any variety. The only solution is to listen to an individual station and turn on discovery. The problem is I don't want to just discover artists on a single station, I want to discover artists on all stations.

This new format is horrible. I haven't heard a new artist worth listening to in over 5 months. It's just the same bands over and over and over and over again. What happened?

Shuffle used to work correctly until some idiots decided to change things about 6 months ago. Now the selection is stale and repetitive with no introduction to new artists. Awful...

I have gone through, deleted a bunch of thumbs up and manually turned on "Discovery" for all stations. While deleting thumbs up has helped Shuffle sound a bit better, Discovery only works when listening to individual stations on the phone or web browser. I'm still seeing a lot less variety than before the format changes were implemented. Hopefully, Discovery and Deep Cuts will be added to Shuffle soon.

I have edited my below post to be more tactful.
The new format and changes brought on by Sirius's ownership of Pandora are frustrating to say the least. Up until recently, Pandora was a great discovery tool. I could flip on my Shuffle of stations and hear bands/songs I've never heard before. Now, all Shuffle plays nothing but familiar bands with thumbs up songs repeating too frequently. Since adding the deep cuts / discovery feature to individual stations, the Shuffle feature has become effectively useless for people who like to discover new bands and songs, as it seems to default to the "Crowd Favs" format with no way to change it.. A work-around, and an extreme pain in the butt, would be to add all my song seeds and artist seeds to one station, then turn on deep cuts. Or simply listen to one station at a time.
Hopefully, this feature will get fixed soon. I'm sure many users use Shuffle rather than listening to individual stations; and they would prefer the extra variety.

Please add a artist ban list that would apply to all stations on an account. It would be nice if I never have to hear Metallica, Green Day, Offspring, Pink Floyd, Wheezer, Breaking Benjamin or any other fill-in-the-blank, worn out, tired FM radio station rock ever again on Pandora. I recommend not having 2 thumbs down of the same artist on a given station banning that artist. There are many good artists with more than 2 bad songs. A ban list would make more sense. It would be nice to be able to turn on deep cuts and discovery for shuffle so that one doesn't have to listen to worn out, tired, FM radio station music when shuffling stations. While the thumbs down feature is great, it's almost impossible to eliminate all the tired, worn out, FM radio station music with thumbs down alone.
