I have an almost identically shady issue. For years I've used digital giftcards for my annual Pandora Plus membership. This past Christmas I received a physical gift card. I was first advised that I could not use the card until my existing membership expired. Then, I was unable to purchase an annual membership since the cost of the product exceeded the value of the card. Pandora's chatbot advised that I could redeem the gift card and pay for the balance with my credit card. I was unable to do that and connected with Hunter in the chat. He advised this wasn't possible and I could only use the card for the monthly subscription.
